A polarizing plate and a display device including the same. The polarizing plate includes a retardation layer exhibiting ultraviolet blocking characteristics even in a state where the retardation layer does not include any ultraviolet absorber or light stabilizer. The polarizing plate can be used alone or in combination with an appropriate sunscreen or a light stabilizer as needed to selectively block ultraviolet rays in a region requiring blocking, without affecting display performance, such as color senses and image quality, of a display device. The polarizing plate can also be formed with a small thickness without requiring a separate ultraviolet blocking layer, and also has excellent durability, because the polarizing plate exhibits a certain ultraviolet blocking property even in the absence of an ultraviolet absorber or light stabilizer.

The present application relates to a method for manufacturing of a multi-layer liquid crystal film and a multi-layer liquid crystal film. The present application provides the method for manufacturing of the multi-layer liquid crystal film capable of improving coatability of liquid crystals, orientation of liquid crystals and adhesive force between liquid crystal films, as well as realizing thinning of a liquid crystal film, and a multi-layer liquid crystal film manufactured by the above method.

An optical device is disclose herein. In some embodiments, an optical device includes an active liquid crystal element film, wherein the active liquid crystal element film comprises two base films, an active liquid crystal layer present between the two base films, wherein the active liquid crystal layer contains a liquid crystal compound and is capable of switching between a first oriented state and a second oriented state, and a polarizing coating layer, wherein the polarizing coating layer is present between one of the two base films and the active liquid crystal layer. Optical device

The present application relates to an optical film and a use thereof. In the present application, through control of an alignment state of a liquid crystal compound in a liquid crystal layer, the liquid crystal layer may exhibit so-called reverse-wavelength dispersion while forming a single thin layer. An optical film including the liquid crystal layer may show optical modulation in a display device such as a liquid crystal display (LCD), organic light emitting device (OLED), or the like, or may be used in various applications, for example, as an optical element capable of improving light utilization efficiency, an element for implementation of a stereoscopic image and quality improvement thereof, and so forth.
