According to one embodiment, a liquid supply device includes a tank with an lower portion and an upper portion. The lower portion is partitioned into a first chamber side and a second chamber side. The upper portion permits flow of liquid between the first and second chamber sides. The first chamber side is connected by a first flow path portion to a primary side of a filter. The second chamber side is connected by a second flow path portion to the primary side of the filter. A secondary side of the filter is connected by a third flow path portion to a liquid ejection head.

According to one embodiment, a liquid discharge head includes a pressure chamber and a nozzle. The pressure chamber extends in a first direction from a first end to a second end and forms a flow path for a fluid to be ejected from the nozzle. The nozzle is for ejecting liquid from the pressure chamber in a second direction intersecting the first direction. The nozzle is at a position offset from a midpoint of the pressure chamber in the first direction towards one of the first or second ends of the pressure chamber.

In accordance with an embodiment, a liquid discharge head comprises an actuator and a controller. The actuator drives a pressure chamber, which is filled with liquid and communicates with a nozzle in which a meniscus of the liquid is formed. The controller applies an acceleration pulse for accelerating vibration of the meniscus to the actuator after applying a discharge pulse for discharging the liquid in the pressure chamber from the nozzle.

According to one embodiment, an inkjet recording apparatus includes a plurality of inkjet heads of a multi-drop method, a first controller, and a second controller. The first controller controls ejection of ink drops from a first inkjet head for ejecting a first ink for which print resolution is required, in a manner that a number of ink dots formed in a main scanning direction is great, and that the number of ink drops ejected for each one of the ink dots is small. The second controller controls ejection of the ink drops from a second inkjet head for ejecting a second ink for which coverage over a recording surface of the recording medium is required, in a manner that a number of ink dots formed in the main scanning direction is small, and that the number of ink drops ejected for each of the ink dots is great.

A capacitive load driving unit includes a plurality of capacitive loads, a drive circuit for charging and discharging the capacitive loads, a pair of power lines for supplying a drive voltage from an external power source to the drive circuit, and a current reserve circuit for reserving a current required by the drive circuit for charging the capacitive loads. The current reserve circuit includes a capacitor that is charged by the drive voltage from the power lines, and a coupler section for coupling the capacitor between the power lines except for when a defect inspection is conducted.

Capacitive load driving unit and method and apparatus for inspecting the same

Control signals are input to the gates of a P-MOS transistor and an N-MOS transistor of a CMOS drive circuit from respective control signal generating sections. The CMOS drive circuit drives a piezoelectric member as a capacitive element and the piezoelectric element is used in an ink jet head. A substrate of the P-MOS transistor is provided with a voltage higher than a power supply of the CMOS drive circuit. A first potential difference is supplied between terminals of the piezoelectric element and thereafter, a second potential difference of a polarity opposite to the first potential difference is further supplied between the terminals. A discharge operation is inserted in a time period from the time when supply of the first potential difference is completed till the supply of the second difference gets started. The discharge operating time period is set to a proper value at which a desired operating speed, high reliability and low power consumption are achieved.

Capacitive element drive device

A print head driving apparatus is provided with an input terminal for inputting serial data which includes printing data and timing data put in the printing data, a printing data number control circuit for detecting the timing data, a shift register and a latch circuit for extracting the printing data from the serial data with the timing data used as a starting point, and a driving waveform selecting circuit for outputting a driving signal based on the printing data extracted from the shift register and latch circuit. With this constitution, no control signal for latching is needed.

Print head driving apparatus and printer using the same

In a capacitive element driving apparatus which changes, by an output circuit, the electrode potentials of the electrostatic capacitive element of a transducer forming a capacitive load such as a piezoelectric member to drive and control the electrostatic capacitive element, when the electrode potentials start changing and simultaneously change in the same direction by the function of a same-direction detection circuit, the potentials to be applied to the electrodes are controlled with a high impedance. While a portion between the electrodes of the electrostatic capacitive element of the transducer is being charged or discharged, the potentials to be applied are controlled with a low impedance lower than the high impedance.
