This application discloses a forwarding entry generation method, a packet sending method, a network device, and a system, so that a specified network device cannot use a backup forwarding path to forward a packet, thereby reducing, to some extent, a technical problem such as network resource waste or network congestion caused by a loop problem. The method includes: A first network device obtains routing information advertised by a second network device; and the first network device determines that the routing information advertised by the second network device matches a summary route stored in the first network device, and generates, based on a segment identifier of the second network device, a forwarding entry corresponding to the summary route. The forwarding entry includes the segment identifier of the second network device, and a forwarding path corresponding to the forwarding entry passes through the second network device.

Example virtual machine live migration methods and apparatus are described. In one example method, a first virtual machine which runs on a source server is migrated to a destination server. The source server includes a single-root input/output virtualization (SR-IOV) network adapter. The virtual machine manager delivers a live migration command to the live migration module. The live migration module obtains, according to the live migration command, information that needs to be migrated and that is about the first virtual machine, and reports the information to the virtual machine manager, where the information includes state information of the first virtual network adapter and memory data of the first virtual machine. The virtual machine manager sends the state information and the memory data of the first virtual machine to the destination server.

The method can reduce the amount of memory used in virtual machine startup, improve virtual machine density, and support the concurrent startup of a memory overcommitted number of virtual machine.

The second client may also render the interactive motion information and facial data information of a user of the second client, and generate and display a virtual avatar model of the user of the second client. The provided method and system may decreases amount of data that may be transferred over the network. This may allow data transmission rate during video communication to be high enough for a smooth operation.
