A knocking sensor comprises a casing for receiving a pickup assembly including a transducer, which produces an electrical signal in accordance with engine vibrations, and a connector having at least a single pin electrically connected to the transducer. The casing comprises a threaded projection to be screwed in a screw hole of an engine, and a nut-like periphery to be rotated by a tool. The knocking sensor can be attached to the engine by means of an impact wrench, by rotating the nut-like portion. A plug connected to one end of a shielding code can be plugged in the connector to make an electrical connection between the transducer and a signal processing circuit after the knocking sensor has been attached to the engine, and therefore, the shielding code is prevented from being damaged during installation of the knocking sensor. The use of an impact wrench ensures secure attachment of the sensor, and reduces the installation time.

Knocking sensor

A knocking detecting apparatus for an internal combustion engine with a knocking detector for detecting a factor of knocking in the engine and a circuit for generating a knocking discrimination level in response to the output signal of the knocking detector, for detecting knocking by comparing the output signal of the knocking detector and the knocking discrimination level. The knocking detecting apparatus comprises a circuit for clamping the output of the knocking discrimination level generator circuit such that the knocking discrimination level does not exceed a predetermined voltage.

Knocking detecting apparatus for an internal combustion engine

The present invention relates to improvements in a switch for a direction indicator suitable for use in a motor car comprising: a bracket operationally associated with a control lever for a direction indicator and rotatable through a predetermined angle in dependence on a direction indicated; a rachet opposed to the main body of the bracket through a steering wheel, opposite end portions of which are constantly biased in a direction of being engaged with opposite end portions of the main body of the bracket, and rotatable through a predetermined angle in dependence on a direction indicator; and a cancel cam formed at the periphery thereof with projections capable of releasing a condition of engagement between the end portions of the main body of the bracket in response to the rotation of the steering wheel in a state of having a slight clearance in the direction of rotation and rotatable along with the steering wheel. Striking noises occurring during operation of a steering wheel are prevented by: a frictional inclusion interposed between abutting surfaces of the cancel cam and the steering wheel; shock absorbing means provided between abutting surface of the bracket and the ratchet; a lubricant of high viscosity filled in recesses formed on a shock receiving surface of either the bracket or the ratchet; shock absorbing members provided at portions of engagement between the steering wheel and the cancel cam for absorbing clearances in the direction of rotation; and shock absorbing tongues integrally formed either on the end portions of the main body of the ratchet.

Switch for direction indicator of vehicle

An alarm indicating system, for preferred use in vehicles, having alarm legends carrying indicator elements arranged in layers, by which the occurrence of abnormalities in the operation of specific parts or objects of functional importance are located according to a predetermined order of importance given to the objects. Misreading or illegibility of alarm legends, overlapped in a display, thus is avoided. The system also incorporates a fault finder means to check instantly and automatically if the indicators or drive circuits for the indicators have failed in operation.

An indicator device for vehicles such as an automobile car which can show locations in a predetermined priority sequence if there is something wrong with various functions of the car, and comprises a plurality of indicating elements superposed in layers, each having a light source, light reflecting spots to represent a character and checking means for checking the light source, sensors for detecting changes in the functions, and an electrical control circuit actuated by signals from the sensors for energizing the light sources.

An anti-skid control system for vehicles wherein, in view of the fact that while it is desirable for a vehicle anti-skid control system to detect the speed of the vehicle body and the speed of the wheel to positively prevent the skidding of the vehicle, it is very difficult to detect the speed of the vehicle body, a plurality of control patterns for decreasing the wheel speed to prevent the locking of the wheels under an excessively large braking pressure are predetermined, whereby the selection among the control patterns is effected according to the conditions of the road surface detected by a vehicle body deceleration sensor and a reference wheel speed according to the selected control pattern is compared with the actual wheel speed to forcibly reduce the braking pressure when there is a tendency for the wheels to lock, thereby preventing the locking of the vehicle and hence the skidding of the vehicle without detecting the speed of the vehicle body.

Anti-skid control system for vehicles

A centralized monitor system for motor vehicles of the 'failure-proof' type including display lamps for indication of trouble sources and a primary warning lamp which are activated by respective switching circuits connected to respective sensors. Its feature is that even if any switching circuit fails or is damaged to make the display lamp inactive, the primary warning lamp nevertheless is activated to give a warning of such latent failure of possible occurrence in the switching circuit.

A central warning apparatus for vehicles which comprises a plurality of sensors mounted to the plurality of portions of vehicle to be inspected, discriminator circuits for discriminating an abnormal state of the sensors, display units connected to the discriminator circuits so as to be effected in response to the abnormal state, an OR-gate circuit connected to the output of respective discriminator circuits, and a main warning unit connected to the OR-gate circuit so as to be effected by an output therefrom for warning that there arises an abnormal state at at least one of portions to be inspected.

An improved liquid level detecting and indicating system for vehicles comprising a pair of liquid level detecting elements which are arranged in opposite positions on the detecting level of a liquid in a liquid container installed in a vehicle, whereby when each of the liquid level detecting elements sends a signal indicating that the liquid level has dropped below a reference liquid level, an indicator is brought into operation. In this way, the level of liquid can be accurately detected and indicated without being influenced by the inclination or vibration of a vehicle body.
