The light emitting device comprises at least one data line, at least one pixel, a common electrode, a data driver and an ammeter, The pixel comprises a pixel drive circuit and a light emitting element, in which the pixel drive circuit includes a first transistor electrically connected to the data line and one end of the light emitting element, and the other end of the light emitting element is connected to the common electrode. The ammeter measures the current value of a detection current flowing from the data driver to the ammeter via the data line, the first transistor, the light emitting element of the pixel, and the common electrode when the data driver applies to the data line a first set voltage having such a potential that applies a forward bias voltage between both ends of the light emitting element via the first transistor.

Provided in a controller is a correction-data obtaining function circuit which obtains a first characteristic parameter relating to a threshold voltage of the driving device of each pixel based on a voltage value of each data line after a first detection voltage is applied to each data line connected to each pixel, and a current is caused to flow through the current path of the driving device through the each data line with a voltage of another end of the light emitting element being set to be a first setting voltage.

A pixel includes a light emitting element and a driving element connected to the light emitting element. After an initial voltage is applied to one end of a current path of the driving element via the signal line, the pixel driving device acquires the threshold voltage of the driving element based on a voltage value at a terminal of the signal line when the initial voltage is cut off and the relaxation time is elapsed. The voltage-current characteristics of the driving element is acquired based on the voltage value at the terminal of the signal line when the current flows into the current path of the driving element via the signal line. The current gain value of the driving element is acquired based on the threshold voltage of the driving element. The image data is corrected based on the acquired threshold voltage.

In a pixel driving device that drives a plurality of pixels, each of the plurality of pixels includes a light emitting element, and a pixel driving circuit comprising a driving device having one end of a current path connected to one end of the light emitting element and having another end of the current path to which a power-source voltage is applied. Provided in a controller is a correction-data obtaining function circuit that obtains a characteristic parameter including a threshold voltage of the driving device of each pixel based on a voltage value of each of a plurality of data lines connected to each of the plurality of pixels with a voltage of another end of the light emitting element being set to be a setting voltage. The setting voltage is a voltage set based on a voltage value of each data line at a predetermined timing.

A display pixel including a light-emitting element and a drive element for supplying current flowing in a current path to the light-emitting element is applied with a detection voltage based on a predetermined unit voltage. Based on a value of current flowing in the current path of the drive element, a specific value corresponding to an element characteristic of the drive element is detected. A gradation voltage corresponding to a luminance gradation of display data is generated. Based on the specific value and the unit voltage, a compensated voltage is generated. By compensating the gradation voltage based on the compensated voltage, a compensated gradation voltage is generated. And the compensated gradation voltage is supplied to the display pixel.

A data acquisition circuit sets one of the potential value at one end of a signal line and the value of a current flown thereto when one end of a current path of a drive device is connected to a light emitting device with the other end thereof set to a potential value where no current flows to the light emitting device. Then the circuit causes current to flow via the current path and the signal line and acquires one of the value of the current flown to the signal line and the potential value at the one end of the signal line according to the set value. A correction operation circuit acquires a threshold voltage and a current amplification factor of the drive device based on one of the current and potential values thus acquired as well as on one of the potential and current values thus set.

An emission apparatus includes an emission element, a pixel drive circuit connected to the emission element, a data line connected to the pixel drive circuit, and an emission drive apparatus that, in a selection period, lets a reference current with a predetermined current value flow to the pixel drive circuit via the data line, derives a compensation voltage which is a difference between a potential which varies according to a unique characteristic of the pixel drive circuit and a predetermined reference potential, and generates a correction gradation voltage to be applied to the pixel drive circuit based on the compensation voltage for causing the emission element to emit light at an appropriate luminance gradation.

A pixel driving device has a voltage impressing circuit that outputs a reference voltage that exceeds a threshold voltage of a drive transistor, a voltage measurement circuit, and a property parameter acquisition circuit that acquires a property parameter related to an electronic property of a pixel. The pixel driving device impresses the reference voltage on the pixel that has a light emitting element and the drive transistor. The voltage measurement circuit acquires voltage of a signal line, as measured voltages, after each of a plurality of the settling times elapsing from the time when the reference voltage is cut. A display drive apparatus for driving a display pixel including a light-emitting element and a drive element in which one end of a current path is connected to the light-emitting element. The display drive apparatus has a specific value detection section detecting a difference value between a measured voltage detected at one end of a data line when a reference current is applied via the data line and a standard voltage corresponding to the reference current so as to obtain a specific value corresponding to variation of an element characteristic of the drive element, and a gradation signal correction section generating a corrected gradation signal by correcting a gradation signal according to display data based on the specific value so as to apply the corrected gradation signal from the one end of the data line to the display pixel.
