A binding apparatus includes: a first toothed part including teeth arranged in one direction; and a second toothed part that includes teeth arranged in the one direction and is configured to mesh with the first toothed part and to press a bundle of sheets, wherein at least one first groove is formed between adjacent teeth of the first toothed part, the first groove has cross-sectional areas at central and end portions in a direction orthogonal to the one direction and a direction in which the first and second toothed parts mesh with each other, the one direction and the orthogonal direction are normal to the cross-sectional areas, and the cross-sectional area at the end portion is larger than the cross-sectional area at the central portion.

A post-processing apparatus includes: a first binding unit that binds sheets and moves while rotating a first gear; a second binding unit that binds sheets and moves while rotating a second gear; a common path that is a path along which the first binding unit and the second binding unit move; a first rack gear that is provided along the common path and meshes with the first gear; and a second rack gear that is provided along the common path at a side opposite to the first rack gear with the common path interposed between the second rack gear and the first rack gear, and meshes with the second gear.

A post-processing device includes a processing stacking portion that allows media to be stacked thereon; a binding member that performs a binding process on the media; a medium ejection portion on which the media ejected from the processing stacking portion are stacked and which moves upward and downward; and a pressing member that presses an upper surface of the media on the medium ejection portion.
