A method includes: receiving first data including physiological information obtained from a subject and a first result that a disease is developing; specifying a first time point at which the physiological information included in the first data is obtained; receiving second data including the physiological information obtained from the subject and a second result that the disease is not developing; specifying a second time point at which the physiological information included in the second data is obtained; upon determining that a time interval between the first time point and the second time point is smaller than a first predetermined value, assigning, to the second data, a first training label indicating that the disease is developing and a weighting index that is capable of taking a plurality of values according to the time interval; and performing machine learning of a model by using the second data as training data.

A blood oxygen saturation measuring apparatus includes: a light emitter adapted to emit, to living tissue of a subject, at least two light beams which have different wavelengths from each other; a light receiver adapted to receive the light beams which are transmitted through or reflected from the living tissue, the light receiver which converts the received light beams to electric signals corresponding to receiving intensities of the light beams, respectively; an extractor which extracts frequency components corresponding to changes of the receiving intensities according to a variation of a blood volume of a vein in the living tissue due to respiration of the subject, from the electric signals, respectively; an attenuation ratio calculator which calculates a first attenuation ratio based on amplitudes of the extracted frequency components; and an oxygen saturation calculator which calculates a first blood oxygen saturation in the vein based on the first attenuation ratio.

A pressure sensor gathers discrete data representing the pulse amplitude of a pulse wave signal when a cuff pressure is increased and decreased. A RAM stores the discrete data of the pulse amplitude. A CPU processes the discrete data by using a spline function, to thereby generate the data representative of a smooth continuous line passing by points of the pulse amplitude of the discrete data. This process reduces a variation of the pulse amplitude of a pulse wave signal, to thereby minimize a variation of the blood pressure values. An inflection point of the smooth continuous line is used as a diastolic blood pressure value.

Blood pressure measuring system

A CPU of a control unit receives a blood pressure pulse wave signal, through an AC amplifier and an A/D convertor. The CPU differentiates, for the smoothing of the waveform, the heart pulse wave signal every step of decreasing the pressure in the cuff, thereby detecting a descending zero-cross point m of the differential wave. Further, the CPU detects a slope peak point P' while tracing back from the descending zero-cross point m. The CPU determines the peak points of the pulse wave by using the heart pulse wave signal that is not differentiated. Thereafter, the CPU determines the base points of the pulse wave tracing back from the maximum-slope point, determines the peak value of the heart pulse wave signal in all the steps of decreasing the pressure in the cuff, and finally computes a systolic blood pressure and a diastolic blood pressure.
