An object of the present invention is to provide a prepreg and a laminate for producing a laminate suitable as a structural material, which have excellent joining strength and interlaminar fractural toughness values and can be firmly integrated with another structural member by welding. The present invention provides a prepreg including the following structural components, [A] reinforcing fibers, [B] an epoxy resin, and [C] a thermoplastic resin, wherein all epoxy resins included in [B] have an average epoxy value of 2.0 meq./g or more and 5.0 meq./g or less, [C] is present in a surface of the prepreg, and the reinforcing fibers [A] are present, which are included in a resin area including [B] and a resin area including [C] across an interface between the two resin areas.

The present invention aims at providing a prepreg for producing a laminate suitable as a structural material, and a laminate, which have excellent tensile shear joining strength, fatigue joining strength, and interlaminar fractural toughness values, and can be firmly integrated with another structural member by welding. The present invention is a prepreg including the following structural components [A], [B], and [C], wherein [C] is present on a surface of the prepreg, [C] is a crystalline thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of 100° C. or higher or an amorphous thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of 180° C. or higher, and the reinforcing fibers [A] are present which are included in a resin area including [B] and a resin area including [C] across an interface between the two resin areas: [A] reinforcing fibers; [B] a thermosetting resin; and [C] a thermoplastic resin.

An object of the present invention is to provide a prepreg and a laminate for producing a laminate suitable as a structural material, which have excellent compressive strength and interlaminar fractural toughness values, and can be firmly integrated with another structural member by welding. The present invention provides a prepreg including the following structural components [A] reinforcing fibers, [B] a thermosetting resin, and [C] a thermoplastic resin, in which [B] has a rubbery state elastic modulus of 10 MPa or more at a temperature obtained by adding 50&#xb0; C. to a glass transition temperature in a state in which a degree of cure is 90% or more, [C] is present in a surface of the prepreg, and the reinforcing fibers [A] are present, which are included in a resin area including {B] and a resin area including [C] across an interface between the two resin areas.

A thermosetting resin composition at least including: [A] an epoxy resin containing two or more glycidyl groups; [B] a cyanate ester resin containing two or more cyanate groups; and [C] an amine compound; and satisfying the following conditions (1) and (2): (1) 0.25&#x2264;the number of moles of glycidyl groups in the thermosetting resin composition/the number of moles of cyanate groups in the thermosetting resin composition&#x2264;1.5; and (2) 0.05&#x2264;the number of moles of active hydrogen contained in the amino groups in the thermosetting resin composition/the number of moles of cyanate groups in the thermosetting resin composition&#x3c;0.5; and a prepreg and a fiber reinforced composite material using the thermosetting resin composition. Provided are a thermosetting resin composition having excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance in a high-temperature environment after moisture absorption, and having excellent reactivity that allows curing in a short time; a prepreg prepared by impregnating a reinforced fiber with a thermosetting resin composition, which prepreg has excellent handling ability (tackiness properties) at room temperature; and a fiber reinforced composite material including a thermosetting resin composition and a reinforced fiber.

Heat-curable resin composition, prepreg, and fiber-reinforced composite material

A prepreg includes; sizing agent-coated carbon fibers coated with a sizing agent; and a thermosetting resin composition impregnated into the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers. The sizing agent includes an aliphatic epoxy compound (A) and an aromatic compound (B) at least containing an aromatic epoxy compound (B1). The thermosetting resin composition includes a thermosetting resin (D) and a latent hardener (E), and optionally includes an additive (F) other than the thermosetting resin (D) and the latent hardener (E). The (a)/(b) ratio is within a predetermined range where (a) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to CHx, C&#x2014;C, and C&#x2550;C and (b) is the height of a component at a binding energy assigned to C&#x2014;O in a Ccore spectrum of the surfaces of the sizing agent-coated carbon fibers analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Prepreg and carbon fiber-reinforced composite material

An object of the present invention is to provide an epoxy resin composition capable of providing a carbon fiber-reinforced composite material that is excellent in moldability, heat resistance, and mechanical properties such as tensile strength and compression strength, and a prepreg. The present invention provides an epoxy resin composition containing at least components [A] to [D] shown below: [A]: an epoxy resin having a xylene group; [B]: a glycidyl amine epoxy resin having three or more glycidyl groups in a molecule; [C]: a thermoplastic resin; and [D]: an aromatic polyamine, the epoxy resin composition containing 10 to 80 parts by mass of the component [A] and 20 to 90 parts by mass of the component [B] based on 100 parts by mass in total of epoxy resins, and also 1 to 25 parts by mass of the component [C] based on 100 parts by mass in total of epoxy resins.

Sizing agent-coated carbon fibers, process for producing sizing agent-coated carbon fibers, prepreg, and carbon fiber reinforced composite material

An epoxy resin composition containing an epoxy resin [A1], epoxy resin [B1], epoxy resin [C1] and curing agent [D] wherein [A1] is a bisphenol-type epoxy resin with a softening point of 90&#xb0; C. or more, [B1] is a tri- or higher functional amine-type epoxy resin, [C1] is a bisphenol F-type epoxy resin with a number average molecular weight of 450 or less, and the epoxy resins [A1] to [C1] satisfy the following contents per 100 parts by mass of total epoxy resin content: [A1] 20 to 50 parts by mass, [B1] 30 to 50 parts by mass and [C1] 10 to 40 parts. The present invention provides low-viscosity epoxy resin compositions that are excellent in impregnating reinforcing fibers and capable of producing cured resins with excellent modulus and toughness, as well as prepregs and fiber-reinforced composite materials based on those epoxy resin compositions.
