Methods are disclosed for producing melt supply pipes. In one illustrative implementation, there is provided a method for producing a melt supply pipe, composed of an inner ceramic pipe and an outer steel pipe fitted to the inner pipe, the melt supply pipe directed to connecting a melting furnace and a plunger sleeve of a die casting machine. Moreover, the method may include forming a Ni alloy layer over the inner circumferential surface of the outer steel pipe, burying the outer pipe in and bonding the surface of the Ni alloy layer to TiC particles, and fitting the inner ceramic pipe into the outer pipe with the TiC particles bonded to the inner circumferential surface.

Method for producing melt supply pipe for aluminum die casting

There is provided a melt supply pipe comprising a melt supply pipe body composed of an inner ceramic pipe and an outer steel pipe, the outer steel pipe having a Ni alloy layer formed over the inner circumferential surface, and TiC particles attached to the surface of the Ni alloy layer, wherein grooves are formed at both ends of the melt supply pipe body, each groove forming an annular space overlapping the boundary between the outer circumferential surface of the inner ceramic pipe and the inner circumferential surface of the outer steel pipe, and a fibrous sheet of an inorganic material is inserted into each of the annular grooves such that the sheet extends over the entire circumference of the groove. The melt supply pipe is strong to mechanical impact owing to the use of the steel pipe in combination with the ceramic pipe and can prevent intrusion of an aluminum melt despite the difference in thermal expansion between the steel pipe and the ceramic pipe.

A Ni alloy layer is formed on a surface of a steel base on the side to be in direct contact with a molten aluminum alloy, and titanium carbide (TiC) is bonded in a particulate state to the surface of the Ni alloy layer. This makes it possible to provide a metal material having materially enhanced melting loss resistance without resorting to conventional techniques, such as the provision of a ceramic coating by PVD or CVD.

There is provided a melt supply pipe for aluminum die casting which is strong to mechanical impact and is excellent in the melting loss resistance to a molten aluminum alloy and which has a significantly extended life. The melt supply pipe for connecting a melting furnace and a plunger sleeve of a die casting machine, includes an inner ceramic pipe and an outer steel pipe fitted to the inner pipe, wherein a Ni alloy layer is formed over the inner circumferential surface of the outer steel pipe, and TiC particles are bonded to the surface of the Ni alloy layer.

The present invention is directed to provide a method for manufacturing a die for press forming of glass in which cracks are not easily caused in a surface covering layer. A surface covering layer made of an amorphous Ni&#x2014;P alloy is formed on the surface of a base material made of a steel having a martensitic structure or made of steel in which &#x3b5;-carbide is dispersed in low carbon martensite matrix. Then, the base material and the surface covering layer are heated to change the base material into a troostitic structure or a sorbitic structure and change the surface covering layer into a eutectic structure of Ni and NiP. Preferably, the base material contains 0.3 wt % or more and 2.7 wt % or less of carbon and 13 wt % or less of chromium, and the heat treatment is carried out at 270&#xb0; C. or more.

Die for press forming of glass and manufacturing method thereof

A glass-shaping mold includes a steel base member, and a crystallized, machined layer, an intermediate layer and a mold-releasing layer which are sequentially formed on the base member. The machined layer is a layer of nickel alloy containing phosphorus. The intermediate layer is a layer formed of chromium, nickel, copper or cobalt. Alternatively, the intermediate layer is a layer of an alloy layer containing at least one of these elements. The mold-releasing layer is a layer of an alloy containing iridium and rhenium.
