A user equipment (UE) may determine an inactivity timer associated with a first set of one or more beams used for communicating with a network entity associated with a satellite has expired. The UE may identify location information corresponding to the location of the UE with respect to the network entity. The UE may identify beam geometry information for one or more beams associated with the network entity. For example, the UE may receive the beam geometry information from the network entity. The UE may process the location information and the beam geometry information to identify a second set of one or more beams, the second set different than the first set. The UE and the network entity may communicate according to the second set of one or more beams.

Default beam for communication networks

A user equipment (UE) may release a connection with a first network entity and determine a first virtual coverage area of the UE based on a geographic location of the UE associated with the release of the connection. The UE may obtain a message that includes area information. The area information may be indicative of one or more second virtual coverage areas, which the UE may use in determining whether to monitor for a paging early indication (PEI). Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for indication of one or more symbol structures for one or multiple subsets of a set of symbols. The one or more symbol structures may include one or more guard interval (GI)-based symbol formats that are to be applied to one or more of the subsets of symbols. Different symbol formats may be indicated for different subsets of symbols, and a first subset of symbols may use a GI-based symbol format and a second subset of symbols may use a CP-based or GI-based symbol format.
