The system receives orbital information for at least one satellite of a non-terrestrial network. The orbital information includes the location and velocity of the at least one satellite. The system determines a location of a wireless device and the wireless device's location relative to the at least one satellite. The system calculates a connectivity window based on the relative location. The connectivity window is a time period at the location of the wireless device during which the wireless device receives a signal from the at least one satellite to perform a network connection with the non-terrestrial network. The system connects the wireless device to the non-terrestrial network when the connectivity window of the at least one satellite is open. The system prevents the wireless device from searching for a network connection to the non-terrestrial network when the wireless device is outside the connectivity window of the at least one satellite.

System for controlling connection of a device to a non-terrestrial network

Systems and methods for controlling the air to ground network coverage in an underserved area include an aerial vehicle and control circuitry communicatively coupled to relay circuitry, antenna circuitry, and a ground site. The control circuitry is structured to receive signal data corresponding to a radio signal, the relay circuitry structured to convert the radio signal into a subsequent signal, determine one or more airline schedules and one or more flight statuses associated with an underserved area, based on the one or more airline schedules and the one or more flight statuses determined, determine an aerial vehicle location as the aerial vehicle navigates to the underserved area, and generate a command to activate, via the antenna circuitry, transmission of air to ground network coverage based on the subsequent signal to the underserved area when the aerial vehicle location is in the underserved area.

Air to ground wireless repeater/relay system

The system monitors multiple communication channels between a first communicator and a second communicator. At least a portion of the multiple channels spatially overlap. The overlapping channels carry different communications. The system determines whether a first set of two or more channels among the multiple channels are interfering with each other. Systems, methods, and apparatuses may comprise a Radio Access Network (RAN) node for performing RAN-layer network slicing. The system may comprise a User Equipment (UE) in communication with the RAN node to provide the UE access to a core network (e.g., a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) 5G network). The core network may comprise one or more Network Functions (NF) including an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) for facilitating communications between the RAN node and other NFs. By sending one or more RAN node messages and/or AMF messages, the system may perform RAN-layer slicing to register the UE with a network slice, establish a PDU session for the UE with the network slice, and/or provide a service to the UE with the network slice. In some instances, RAN-layer network slicing may be performed for multiple, specific use cases to meet UE service requirements.

A mobile network is analyzed to determine outage regions for a dual-connectivity functionality that uses multiple wireless technologies provided by non-collocated network sites. In some examples, a network configuration server receives and analyzes the locations of base transceiver stations (BTSs) within the mobile network, along with the coverage ranges and wireless technologies supported by the BTS network sites. Based on the analyses, the network configuration server determines regions within which certain dual-connectivity functionality is and is not supported for user equipment (UE) devices. The network configuration server may calculate the outage region for a BTS network site based on the distances between the BTS network site and other BTS network sites providing different wireless technologies for the dual-connectivity functionality. Various elements of the mobile network, including the BTS network sites and/or user mobile devices, may be configured based on the determined outage regions.

Dual-connectivity outage detection and remediation for non-collocated network sites

A first base station configured to exclude a first carrier from a list of multiple carriers of a second base station is described herein. Prior to excluding the first carrier, the first base station may select the first carrier for a user equipment (UE) based on first measurements of the multiple carriers of the second base station. The first base station may then determine that a connection between the UE and the second base station via the first carrier has failed and may provide an updated list of the multiple carriers of the second base station to the UE, the updated list excluding the first carrier. The first base station may then receive from the UE second measurements of the multiple carriers included in the updated list and select a second carrier of the second base station for the UE based on the second measurements.

A fifth generation (5G) radio access network (RAN) can determine that a user equipment (UE) should fall back to engaging in a communication session over an LTE-based Evolved Packet System (EPS) instead of a 5G system. However, to avoid interrupting setup operations that may be occurring separately for that communication session in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) apart from the 5G system, the EPS fallback can be delayed such that setup in the IMS can proceed at least to a point at which IMS signaling messages are less likely to be undeliverable due to the EPS fallback.

User equipment (UE) can select a connection type for a retry of a failed call based on system information blocks (SIBs) received from a serving base station of a first radio access layer of a telecommunication network. When the UE experiences a call setup failure of a call attempted through the serving base station of the first radio access layer, the UE can determine whether neighbor information within the SIBs includes information about a neighboring base station of a second radio access layer. If it does, the UE can select a retry connection type as a connection to the neighboring base station of the second radio access layer. If it does not, the UE can select the retry connection type as a connection to an alternate network. The UE can then retry the call through the selected retry connection type.

A first access node of a first wireless access network receives, via a first entry node of the first network, a service-request message from a terminal registered with the first network. The first access node, in response to a selection of the first wireless access network, sends a service-reply message to the first entry node.
