Systems, apparatuses, and methods for prefetching data by a display controller. From time to time, a performance-state change of a memory are performed. During such changes, a memory clock frequency is changed for a memory subsystem storing frame buffer(s) used to drive pixels to a display device. During the performance-state change, memory accesses may be temporarily blocked. In order to reduce visual artifacts that may occur while the memory accesses are blocked, a memory subsystem includes a control circuit configured to enable a caching mode which caches display data provided to the display controller. Subsequent requests for display data from the display controller are then serviced using the cached data instead of accessing memory.

Memory power performance state optimization during image display

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for prefetching data by a display controller. From time to time, a performance-state change of a memory are performed. During such changes, a memory clock frequency is changed for a memory subsystem storing frame buffer(s) used to drive pixels to a display device. During the performance-state change, memory accesses may be temporarily blocked. To sustain a desired quality of service for the display, a display controller is configured to prefetch data in advance of the performance-state change. In order to ensure the display controller has sufficient memory bandwidth to accomplish the prefetch, bandwidth reduction circuitry in clients of the system are configured to temporarily reduce memory bandwidth of corresponding clients.

On-demand regulation of memory bandwidth utilization to service requirements of display

A display system modifies display cycles of one or more displays to perform a system operation while avoiding visual perturbations at the one or more displays. The display system modifies, synchronizes, or both, blanking periods of the one or more displays such that blanking periods equal or exceed a blackout duration and overlap for at least the blackout duration. Then the system performs the system operation during an overlapping portion of the one or more blanking periods, where the system operation reduces availability of display data at the one or more displays.

Display cycle control system

Described herein are techniques for removing control of a display from an operating system. The disclosed techniques decouple operation of the physical display device from control of the operating system so that the display device may be powered down while not needed during streaming. The device driver for the graphics card, into which a display device cable is plugged, simulates operation of the display but allows the display to be powered down. Simulating the display involves properly responding to queries or commands from the operating system, and generating the signals that would be expected from the display device by the operating system. While simulated in this manner, whether the display device is actually powered down does not matter to the operation of an application being streamed, because the operating system still 'believes' the display device is powered on. Thus application streaming is not interrupted by powering down the display device.

Techniques for seamless transition between host display and remote display

Methods and apparatus provide pixel information for display. In one example, the methods and apparatus map, using a computing device, pixel information of a virtual rendering surface to a physical curved display screen based on field-of-view point reference data and display curvature data of one or more curved displays using a non-constant scale ratio among a plurality of differing physical pixels in at least one row of a portion of the physical curved display screen. Display data is output based on the mapped pixel information for display to the one or more curved displays.
