An ink jet head producing method includes forming a first flow path forming member in a portion constituting a flow path side wall, which constitutes at least a partitioning portion between flow paths on a substrate; forming a pattern as a mold for the flow path, the pattern being formed over the substrate and a portion of the first flow path forming member; forming a second flow path forming member on the first flow path forming member and the pattern, the second flow path forming member being formed of a material corresponding to the first flow path forming member; forming the discharge port in the second flow path forming member; and forming the flow path by removing the pattern.

Ink jet head and producing method therefor

A method of manufacturing an ink jet head having a substrate that has a plurality of energy generating elements used for generating energy that in turn is used to discharge ink. The substrate has recessed portions separating the energy generating elements, and a wall member is provided having depending flow passage walls which are joined respectively to the recessed portions. The energy generating elements act on the ink and discharge it through the flow passages.

An ink tank includes a housing and an ink absorbing member accommodated in the housing. The ink absorbing member is constructed using a water jet cutter. The ink absorbing member is a thermosetting foamed block having a porous three-dimensional divergent circuit network; the foamed block is molded of a condensate comprising a compound having an amino group and a formaldehyde. The foamed block is formed for placement in the housing by actuating the water jet cutter and worked by actuating the water jet cutter to provide slits or holes in the ink absorbing member different from pores of the foamed block.

A printing system having an ink tank for storing ink, the ink tank having a housing having an ink feeding port formed through a first surface for feeding ink therethrough, and a second surface opposite the first. A compensating member having more resilience than the ink absorbing member is disposed between the ink absorbing member and the ink outflow portion and applies a functional force to the ink absorbing member corresponding to deterioration of properties of the ink absorbing member. Another ink absorbing member having more resilience than the ink absorbing member is disposed between the ink absorbing member and the ink outflow portion.

An ink jet head includes a first member with an energy generating element for generating energy to eject ink, a second member having an ejection outlet forming member provided with an ink ejection outlet through which the ink is ejected, the second member being affixed to the first member to form a liquid passage in fluid communication with the ejection outlet, and urging means for urging the first and second members together to substantially fix them against each other. An ink jet head has a first member having a plurality of energy generating elements for generating energy necessary for ejecting ink, a second member having a plurality of grooves separated by land portions, the grooves constituting an array of ink channels leading to an array of ink ejecting openings and the land portions constituting ink channel walls separating the ink channels, and a pressing member for pressing the first member and the second member to each other, thereby joining these members so that the ink channels are formed by cooperation between the first member and grooves in said second member. The height of ink channel walls is varied such that it is smaller at both end regions of the array of ink channels than at the central regions of the array of ink channels. Close and tight contact between the first member and the second member is attained in the central region of the ink channel array where the ink channels actually perform ejection of ink, so that ink can be discharged accurately without any crosstalk between adjacent ink channels, thus ensuring high quality printing.

A length of a melamine foamed block to be accommodated in an ink tank housing as measured in the longitudinal direction is dimensioned to be larger than a length of the ink tank housing as measured in the longitudinal direction. Thus, while the foamed block is accommodated in the ink tank housing, it is compressed in the direction orienting toward an ink feeding port from which ink is fed to a printing head, i.e., in the ink feeding direction. Consequently, the ink retaining force induced by the capillary force is not intensified in the compressing direction of the melamine foamed block, resulting in an ink feeding capability of the printing head being improved. An ink-jet recording head comprises a plurality of liquid flow paths having discharge openings for discharging an ink, and a plurality of thermoelectric transducers provided for each liquid flow path in order to discharge the ink, wherein, a frontward thermoelectric transducer located on the discharge opening side is so provided that, when the ink is discharged by the frontward thermoelectric transducer alone, a value of (discharge velocity v/discharge quantity Vd) with respect to a distance OH extending from an end of its discharge opening side to the discharge opening is at a distance OH of the first region in a regional classification into a first region in which the value of v/Vd increases with a decrease in the distance OH and a second region in which it comes to be substantially constant with an increase in the distance OH.
