A sheet of ultraviolet-cutoff glass includes a primer layer, an ultraviolet-cutoff layer, and a water-repellent layer which are successively deposited on a glass sheet. The water-repellent layer is formed of a vitreous water repellent. Since the water-repellent layer doubles as an overcoat layer, it makes it unnecessary to form a overcoat layer in a separate overcoating process.

A metallic sliding material including at least a support member with a sliding surface and an inorganic compound coating layer formed on the sliding surface is disclosed. The sliding surface is formed from an aluminum alloy or a reinforcing material-containing aluminum alloy. The inorganic compound coating layer is formed from at least one aluminum compound, and at least one phosphorus compound, and at least one member selected from the group of molybdenum compounds, tungsten compounds, and chromium compounds. The invention relates to a method of producing a high-monoester sucrose higher fatty acid ester with a monoester content of at least 90%. In accordance with this invention, a sucrose higher fatty acid ester which is actually a mixture of the corresponding monoester, diester, triester, etc. is dissolved in 1 to 12 parts by weight of a solvent having a specific inductive capacity, at 25.degree. C., of 30 to 50 at an elevated temperature, the precipitate formed on subsequent cooling is removed to recover a supernatant and the solvent is removed from the supernatant. In accordance with the invention, a high-monoester sucrose higher fatty acid ester can be produced easily and with good reproducibility.
