An object of the present invention is to provide a novel plant growth inhibiting agent and a plant growth inhibiting method using the same. The plant growth inhibiting agent of the present invention comprises, as an active ingredient, a compound represented by the following formula (I') and/or a salt thereof. In the formula (I&#x2032;), Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Caryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Cheteroaryl group, or the like; Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Carylene group, or the like; Rrepresents OH, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkoxy group, or the like; X represents an oxygen atom; Y represents a substituent; q represents any integer of 0 to 3; n represents 0 or 1; and m represents 0 or 1.

An object of the present invention is to provide a novel plant growth inhibiting agent and a plant growth inhibiting method using the same. The plant growth inhibiting agent of the present invention comprises, as an active ingredient, a compound represented by the following formula (I') and/or a salt thereof. In the formula (I&#x2032;), Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Caryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Cheteroaryl group, or the like; Rrepresents a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkylene group, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Carylene group, or the like; Rrepresents OH, a substituted or unsubstituted Cto Calkoxy group, or the like; X represents an oxygen atom; Y represents a substituent; q represents any integer of 0 to 3; n represents 0 or 1; and m represents 0 or 1. 

The present invention provides an agricultural fungicide having definitive effects which can be safely used, and a pyridine compound or salts thereof useful as an active ingredient of an agricultural fungicide. The pyridine compound or salts thereof of the present invention are represented by the following formula. In the formula, Rrepresents a formyl group or the like, Rrepresents a hydrogen bond or the like, each of R, R, and Rindependently represents a hydrogen atom, E represents a phenyl group or the like, A represents a halogen atom, and n is any integer of 0 to 5.

Provided is an agricultural fungicide that contains at least one selected from the group consisting of a novel nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound represented by Formula (I), a salt thereof, or an N-oxide compound thereof. In Formula (I), R represents a group represented by CRRRor a cyano group. Rto Reach independently represents a hydrogen atom, an unsubstituted or substituted Calkyl group, an unsubstituted or substituted hydroxyl group, or the like. R4 or R5 represents a halogeno group or the like. Y or Z represents a carbon atom or the like, and A or D represents a benzene ring or the like. X represents an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom or the like.
