In a method of manufacturing a display substrate and a method of manufacturing a display panel, the display substrate includes a color filter layer disposed on a base substrate within a pixel area, a first organic insulating pattern disposed on a first boundary area between adjacent pixel areas, a pixel electrode disposed on the color filter layer, and a first blocking pattern disposed on the first organic insulating pattern. Accordingly, an organic insulating layer corresponding to the pixel area is removed so that deterioration of the display quality by impurities generated from the organic insulating layer may be minimized. In addition, a stepped portion of a blocking pattern disposed between a pixel area and a boundary area of a plurality of the pixel areas is reduced so that motion blurring of a liquid crystal may be prevented.

An alignment film includes a first pre-tilt functional group, a second pre-tilt functional group and a first vertical alignment functional group, which are linked to polysiloxane on a substrate. The first vertical alignment functional group includes a cyclic compound and is aligned substantially perpendicularly to the substrate. The first pre-tilt functional group is cross-linked to the second pre-tilt functional group and tilted with respect to the substrate.

A liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal display layer. The array substrate includes a pixel electrode and a lower reactive mesogen layer. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of slit portions disposed on a plurality of domains in different directions. The lower reactive mesogen layer is disposed on the pixel electrode to induce an inclined direction of liquid crystal molecules. The opposite substrate includes an upper substrate. A liquid crystal display panel, including: a pixel electrode formed on a first substrate; an alignment layer formed on the pixel electrode, wherein the alignment layer includes an alignment layer material and aligns first liquid crystal molecules in a direction substantially perpendicular to the pixel electrode; and a photo hardening layer formed on the alignment layer, wherein the photo hardening layer includes a photo hardening layer material and aligns second liquid crystal molecules to be tilted with respect to the pixel electrode, wherein the alignment layer material and the photo hardening layer material have different polarities from each other.

Display panel and method for manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display includes: a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a field generating electrode disposed on at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules and an alignment polymer. The alignment polymer is formed by light-irradiating the liquid crystal molecules and an alignment aid. The alignment aid includes a mesogen having halogen atoms and at least one photo-polymerizable group combined to the mesogen, and the alignment aid is electrically neutral or quasi-neutral.

Liquid crystal display, a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display and a liquid crystal composition

In a liquid crystal display panel, an array substrate includes a pixel electrode including a conductive organic material provided with an alignment pattern formed thereon. The pixel electrode serves as an electrode that receives a pixel voltage and as an alignment layer that aligns liquid crystal molecules. Thus, the array substrate does not need to have a separate alignment layer in order to align the liquid crystal molecules, thereby reducing manufacturing cost and process complexity and enhancing productivity.
