A method of exchanging Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) options messages for Rich Communication Suite (RCS) capability discovery in a portable terminal is provided. The method includes requesting a server for a setting value associated with an SIP options message exchange, receiving the setting value including the number of the SIP options messages for transmission and a transmission cycle of the SIP options message, transmitting the SIP options message to each of as many contacts as the number of the SIP options messages in the transmission cycle, receiving a reply message from each of the contacts to which the SIP options message is sent, and updating RCS capability information of the contact according to the received reply message, the contacts are registered to a phone book of the portable terminal.

Method and apparatus for exchanging SIP option message for capability discovery of rich communication suite in portable terminal

Provided is a device and method for providing an Alternative Frequency (AF) in a wireless terminal, by which an AF channel service suitable for a user environment can be provided. To this end, the device includes a radio broadcast receiver for receiving a radio broadcast signal, and a controller for attempting an AF channel switch after an elapse of a re-try wait time which is set according to a number of recent AF channel switch failures. The controller may detect the user environment as a walking state or a driving state. If a driving state is detected, the AF channel switch is attempted immediately when receive signal quality is below a threshold, regardless of the number of recent AF channel failures. If a walking state is detected, the AF channel switch is attempted after the elapse of the wait time.

Dynamic alternative frequency channel switching in wireless terminal

An apparatus and a method for switching to a channel including good receiving sensitivity among a plurality of channels for the same broadcast service are provided. The apparatus includes a radio broadcast receiving unit for receiving a radio broadcast, a display unit for indicating an existence of another frequency channel, through which it is possible to listen to a current broadcast, and a control unit for notifying a user of the existence of the other frequency channel if the other frequency channel exists for listening to the current broadcast service, and for switching a current channel to the other frequency channel to listen to the broadcast service through the other frequency channel if the other frequency channel is selected.

Apparatus and method for switching radio channel

Disclosed is a device and method for recognizing characters in an image. An input part receives the image. A blurring decision part classifies the received image into character blocks and background blocks, calculates an average energy ratio of the character blocks, and compares the average energy ratio with a predetermined threshold to determine whether the received image is blurred. If the received image is not blurred, an image binarization part classifies the received image into character blocks and background blocks, compares pixels in the character blocks with a pixel threshold, binarizes the pixels in the character blocks into a brightness value for a character pixel and a brightness value for a background pixel based on the comparison, and binarizes pixels in the background blocks into the brightness value for a background pixel. A character recognition part recognizes characters in the binarized image.

Preprocessing device and method for recognizing image characters

A device and method for correcting a skew of an object in an image. The device and method comprises an input part for receiving an image; a binarization part for binarizing pixels of the image into pixels having brightness values for character pixels and background pixels; a candidate stripe generation part for generating candidate stripes by performing dilation on character regions of the binarized image. The device and method further comprises a stripe classification part for classifying candidate stripes having a predetermined eccentricity and blob size among the candidate stripes, as valid stripes; a skew angle decision part for calculating direction angles of the classified stripes, and determining a direction angle having the largest count value as a skew angle; and a skew correction part for correcting a skew of an image by rotating the mage by the skew angle.
