A sensor system includes a light source that applies, to an imaging target, light whose light amount gradually increases or gradually degreases, an event-driven type sensor that generates an event signal by detecting a fluctuation of reflection light from the imaging target after the application of the light whose light amount gradually increases or gradually degreases is started, and a gradation calculation unit that calculates a gradation of the imaging target on the basis of an elapsed period of time from the start of the application of the light whose light amount gradually increases or gradually decreases to the generation of the event signal.

A sensor system includes a sensor array and a gradation determination section. The sensor array includes a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is configured to detect, with a first sensitivity, a variation in a quantity of light at a first pixel address. The second sensor is configured to detect, with a second sensitivity that is lower than the first sensitivity, a variation in a quantity of light at a second pixel address that is adjacent to or coincides with the first pixel address. The gradation determination section is configured to determine, when the first sensor generates a first event signal in response to a luminance variation event, a gradation of an object having caused the luminance variation event to occur, depending on whether or not the second sensor generates a second event signal in response to the luminance variation event.

A sensor system includes a sensor array configured to include a first sensor and a second sensor, the first sensor detecting with a first sensitivity a variation in a quantity of light at a first pixel address, the second sensor detecting with a second sensitivity a variation in a quantity of light at a second pixel address, the second pixel address being adjacent to or coinciding with the first pixel address, the second sensitivity being lower than the first sensitivity, and an event signal processing section configured to output information indicative of a difference between times at which the first sensor and the second sensor each have generated an event signal in response to a luminance variation event.
