Techniques for initiating commands in a user interface by disambiguating user input terms are disclosed. As a system displays a set of data, the system receives a user input that includes a set of terms. The system determines the terms correspond to multiple different interpretations. The system selects a particular interpretation for the terms based on context data. The context data includes data, such as user profile data and display data. The user profile data includes data for a user entering the terms and data of other users related to the user entering the terms. The system selects and executes a command based on selecting the particular interpretation for the terms.

Content-based operation selection

A computer system displays a user interface that includes a data flow pane, a profile pane, and a data pane. The data flow pane displays a flow diagram including a plurality of linked nodes. Each node specifies a respective operation and a respective intermediate data set generated upon execution of the respective operation. The profile pane displays schemas corresponding to selected nodes in the flow diagram, including (1) data elements showing information about data fields and (2) statistical information about data values for the data fields. User interaction to modify any of the data elements in the profile pane modifies the flow diagram displayed in the data flow pane. The data pane displays rows of intermediate data sets corresponding to selected nodes in the flow diagram. User interaction with individual data values from the displayed rows of data modifies the flow diagram displayed in the data flow pane.

User interface to prepare and curate data for subsequent analysis

A computing device displays, in a user interface, a workflow that includes a plurality of steps. In response to user selection of a first step of the plurality of steps, the computing device displays a list of data sources. The device receives user selection of a first data source of the data sources. The device receives user input specifying a target data field from the first data source and a modeling objective for the target data field. In response to the user input, the device automatically executes a model to predict a first outcome for the target data field based on the modeling objective. The device displays results of the model. The device receives user input to deploy the model. In accordance with the user input, the device deploys the model.

User interface for machine learning model generation

Embodiments are directed to managing data visualizations. A primary visualization that is associated with a data model may be provided such that the primary visualization may be displayed in a display panel. Insight items may be generated based on the primary visualization and the data model such that the insight items may correspond to one or more visualizations that may share one or more portions of the data model and such that the insight items may be displayed in an insight panel. In response to an insight item being selected from the insight panel, additional actions may be performed, including: generating a visualization based on the insight item that is displayed in the display panel instead of the primary visualization; and generating a scratch item that includes a thumbnail view of the primary visualization such that the thumbnail view is displayed in a scratch panel.

Interactive interface for data analysis and report generation

Embodiments are directed to managing data visualizations. Candidate data fields from a data source may be determined based on a search expression. The candidate data fields may be displayed in the model panel. A working data model may be generated based on a portion of the candidate data fields such that the portion of the candidate data fields may be included in the working data model. Visualizations may be determined based on recommendation models and the working data model such that a portion of the visualizations may be determined based on shared data fields that may be included in the working data model and the visualizations. A working visualization may be determined based on a visualization listed in the display panel and the working data model such that data fields included in the working data model may be associated with the working visualization.

Automatic data model generation

An electronic device displays a chart in accordance with contents of a plurality of shelf regions of a data visualization interface. The chart includes visual marks representing a set of data. The electronic device generates a visual analytic object by applying a first analytic operation to the set of data represented by the visual marks, and displays the visual analytic object superimposed over the chart. The device detects user input to select the displayed visual analytic object and place an icon representing the visual analytic object onto a first shelf region of the plurality of shelf regions. In response to the user input, the electronic device updates content of the first shelf region to include an association with the first analytic operation corresponding to the visual analytic object.

Systems and methods for using analytic objects in a dynamic data visualization interface

A computer system displays a user interface that includes a flow pane, a tool pane, a profile pane, and a data pane. The flow pane displays a node/link flow diagram that identifies data sources, operations, and output datasets. The tool pane includes a data source selector that enables users to add data sources to the flow diagram, and includes an operation palette that enables users to insert nodes into the flow diagram for performing specific transformation operations. The profile pane displays schemas corresponding to selected nodes in the flow diagram, including information about data fields and statistical information about data values for the data fields and enables users to modify the flow diagram by interacting with individual data elements. The data pane displays rows of data corresponding to selected nodes in the flow diagram, and enables users to modify the flow diagram by interacting with individual data values.

An electronic device displays a chart, which includes a first set of visual marks that represent values derived from a set of data. The device concurrently displays a chart-calculations-options area. The chart-calculations-options area displays a first plurality of options for type of calculation. The device detects user selection of (i) a first option, from the first plurality of options, for type of calculation and (ii) a second option corresponding to a parameter for the selected first option. In response to detecting the user selection, the device visually distinguishes visual marks in a second set of visual marks in the chart. The second set of visual marks is distinct from the first set of visual marks and corresponds to the first option for type of calculation and the second option corresponding to the parameter for the selected first option.

User interface for generating data visualizations that use table calculations

Embodiments are directed to managing a data model that includes data objects associated with layers of the data model may be provided. A lineage model that includes lineage objects that has one or more lineage objects associated with a layer may be provided. A lineage object associated with a layer may be activated. A first portion data objects may be determined based on the activated lineage object. An anchor object may be determined from the first portion of data objects. A search of the data model may be employed to provide dependency information based on a position of the anchor data object in the data model. A second portion of data objects may be determined based on the dependency information. A report that includes a list of the second portion of data objects, the dependency information, or the like, may be provided.

Interactive lineage analyzer for data assets

Embodiments are directed to a display engine that provides a graphical user interface (GUI) that includes a graph panel and a visualization panel may be generated. The graph panel may receive graph related inputs or interactions. Graph information based on the graph related inputs or interactions and a data source may be generated. A graph model based on the graph information and the data source may be generated. Elements that correspond to objects in the graph model or relationships in the graph model may be displayed in the graph panel. The graph information and the graph model may be employed to execute a query that provides a data model based on results of the query. The data model may be employed to provide a visualization that is displayed in the display panel.

Interactive data visualization interface for data and graph models

A computing device displays a primary data visualization in a data visualization workbook that includes a second worksheet having a secondary data visualization. The primary data visualization includes a plurality of visual marks representing a first set of data fields from a dataset. A first user input in a tooltip definition refers to the secondary data visualization. A second user input selects a first visual mark. In response to the second user input, the device generates a highlighted version of the secondary data visualization, for a second set of data fields from the dataset, specified in the second worksheet, based on the selected first visual mark. The device displays the generated secondary data visualization in a tooltip. Sometimes the device receives a third user input selecting a second visual mark in the plurality of visual marks, and dynamically updates the displayed secondary data visualization based on the second visual mark.

A method displays a chart including visual marks representing a dataset. The chart is based on content of displayed shelf regions, each determining a respective characteristic of the visual marks. The method generates a visual analytic object by applying a first analytic operation to the dataset, and displays the visual analytic object over the chart. The method detects user input to select the displayed visual analytic object and place an icon representing the visual analytic object onto a first shelf region. The first shelf region defines a first characteristic of the visual marks. In response to the user input, the method updates content of the first shelf region to specify association with the first analytic operation and updates the first characteristic of the visual marks in the chart based on values of the set of data represented by the visual marks relative to values computed by the first analytic operation.

An electronic device displays a chart, which includes visual marks that represent calculated values derived from a set of data, and panes formed by intersection of rows and columns. A current focus is on a first visual mark at a first position. The device concurrently displays a chart-calculations-options area, which includes display options for the type of calculation and the type of data partitioning. Visual marks in a first set of visual marks are visually distinguished from other visual marks. The first set of visual marks includes the first visual mark, and corresponds to a first selected option for the type of calculation and a first selected option for the type of data partitioning. The device detects an input that selects a second option for the type of data partitioning. In response, the device visually distinguishes visual marks in a second set of visual marks in accordance with the selection.
