Provided is a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including: a light source; a light guide plate; and a bottom chassis comprising an accommodating portion, a light source cover configured to accommodate the light source, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall, the accommodating portion comprising a first accommodating portion and a second accommodating portion detachably coupled with each other, wherein the light source cover is formed on a first edge of the first accommodating portion, the first sidewall is formed on a second edge of the first accommodating portion, and the second sidewall is formed on an edge of the second accommodating portion.

Backlight assembly and liquid crystal display device including the same

The present invention provides a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display including the backlight assembly, where the liquid crystal display device is slim, lightweight, and requires low manufacturing costs because the device integrates a bottom chassis and a lamp cover. The bottom chassis includes an accommodating portion for mounting a light guide plate, an optical sheet, and a reflection sheet; an inner sidewall for accommodating the light guide plate, the optical sheet, and the reflection sheet; and a lamp cover, where both ends of the accommodating portion are bent to enclose the lamp.

A display device comprises: a display panel including a first insulating substrate and a second insulating substrate that is arranged so as to deviate from the first insulating substrate; and an intermediate frame, wherein the intermediate frame includes: side walls that are arranged so as to correspond to four side surface of the display panel; a mounting portion which protrudes from the side walls inward and on which the first insulating substrate is mounted; and a supporting protrusion that protrudes from the mounting portion to the second insulating substrate and is arranged below the second insulating substrate and on the side of the first insulating substrate.

Display panel and display device including the same

A liquid crystal display and a fabricating method thereof are provided. The liquid crystal display includes a light guide plate (LGP) guiding light, a light source that is disposed at one side of the LGP, a bottom receiving container including a bottom plate disposed below the LGP and the light source and a cover that covers the light source and is integrally formed with the bottom surface, a reflective sheet member laminated inside the cover facing the light source, a reflective sheet positioned on the bottom plate, a liquid crystal panel receiving the light from the light source and displaying an image, and a top receiving container including a top plate having a window to expose the liquid crystal panel outside, and a first sidewall portion extending along the boundary of the top plate.

Liquid crystal display and fabricating method thereof

A backlight assembly includes a first receiving container including a bottom plate, at least one sidewall extending from the bottom plate and an opening portion disposed in the sidewall, a printed circuit board disposed contacting an outer surface of the at least one sidewall and including a first side and a second side opposing the first side, a light source disposed on the first side of the printed circuit board and generating light emitted through the opening portion of the sidewall, and a light guide plate disposed on the bottom plate of the first receiving container, and guiding light emitted from the light source and incident to a light incident surface of the light guide plate.

Backlight assembly and liquid crystal display apparatus having the same

A backlight assembly and a display device including the backlight assembly are provided for one or more embodiments, where the display device is slim, lightweight, and requires low manufacturing costs because the device integrates a receiving container and a light generating unit cover member. According to an embodiment, the backlight assembly includes a first light generating unit, a wire electrically connected to the first light generating unit, a first fixing member including a groove to fix the first light generating unit and a wire outlet, and a receiving container comprising a light generating unit cover member. The first fixing member includes a protruding portion extending outwardly from the receiving container and the wire outlet formed on the protruding portion.

Backlight assembly and display device having the same

A liquid crystal display ('LCD') includes a light guide panel ('LGP') guiding light, first and second light sources that are disposed at either side of the LGP and emit the light, a lower receiving container having a bottom surface which is disposed below the LGP and the first and second light sources, an enclosing portion that extends from a first end of the bottom surface and that is folded to enclose the first light source, and an opening portion that extends from a second end of the bottom surface and that is opened toward an upper direction, and a first reflection sheet covering the opening portion of the lower receiving container above the second light source.

Liquid crystal display and method of fabricating the same

A backlight assembly that does not use a bottom chassis is presented. The absence of bottom chassis reduces manufacturing cost, simplifies the assembly process, and facilitates heat dissipation. The backlight assembly includes a lamp, a light guide plate, a mold frame and a securing mold. The lamp unit includes a lamp that generates light and a lamp cover that partially encloses the lamp. The light guide plate receives the light from the lamp unit and guides the light toward the front of the backlight assembly. The mold frame receives the lamp unit and the light guide plate through an open portion. The securing mold is coupled to the lamp unit and combines with the mold frame to secure the first lamp unit. The backlight assembly relies on one mold frame to hold its components together.
