An arm motor control section controls the operation of an arm motor that drives an arm section for turning a page of a book by pressing an adhesion roller against the page, and a current detection section outputs a current limit notice upon detecting an overcurrent in the arm motor which is limited by a limiter. When a current limit notice is outputted in a page turning operation, a CPU drives and controls the arm motor to perform reverse rotation by the arm motor control section, and thereby controls a pressing period that is a locking period during which the adhesion roller is pressing the page.

The present invention relates to a color printer and particularly to a color printer reducing power consumption and complying with international criteria ensuring sustained earth environment. In a color printer having multiple optical writing heads for individual recording colors, the activated periods of individual color recording heads are set to different periods and one writing period of individual recording heads is divided into multiple periods, video data for recording one dot line are divided into multiple blocks in the main scan direction, and the divided video data are used for emission at different times in the sub-scan direction, whereby a smaller number of optical writing elements are simultaneously driven for emission and the peak power consumption of the entire apparatus is reduced.

The anode driver,adjusts ampere of supplied currents (i.e. drive signals corresponding to the bitmap data) from the head controller,, in accordance with the received adjustment data in response to the reception of the strobe signal. The adjusted drive signals are sent to LED array chips,. At the same time, the cathode driver,selects one of the LED array chips,in accordance with the received strobe signal so that the LEDs emit even lights. The optical writing head driving device,performs the above operations repeatedly to sequentially emit lights from the LEDs chip by chip under time sharing control for 1 line writing. As a result, the bitmap data is written onto a photosensitive member evenly at a high speed.
