An electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a conductive substrate, an intermediate layer provided on the conductive substrate, and a photosensitive layer provided on the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer contains a specific polyamide resin and specific inorganic particles. The specific inorganic particles each include a metal oxide particle and a surface treatment layer covering at least a part of the surface of the metal oxide particle. The surface treatment layers contain a component derived from an organic siloxane compound and at least one of aluminum oxide and silica. The specific polyamide resin includes a first repeating unit derived from an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid with a carbon number of at least 8 and no greater than 20 and a second repeating unit derived from a diamine compound with a cycloalkane structure.

Electrophotographic photosensitive member, process cartridge, and image forming apparatus

A polyarylate resin includes repeating units (1), (2), and (4). The polyarylate resin further includes a repeating unit (3) and a percentage of the number of repeats of the repeating unit (3) relative to the total number of repeats of each of the repeating units (1) and (3) is greater than 0% and less than 50%. Alternatively, the polyarylate resin does not include the repeating unit (3).

The solvent contains a first solvent that is an alcohol having a carbon number of at least 1 and no greater than 3, and a second solvent other than the first solvent. The binder resin includes a polyarylate resin that is a polymerization product of monomers including a first monomer represented by general formula (1) and a second monomer represented by general formula (2),

In general formula (1), Q, Q, Q, and Qeach represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom. r, s, t, and u each represent a number greater than or equal to 15 and less than or equal to 35. X and Y each represent a divalent group represented by chemical formula (2A), chemical formula (2B), chemical formula (2C), or chemical formula (2D), and X and Y are different from each other
