A lens apparatus is enabled to be mounted on an image capturing apparatus and includes an actuator, a communication section configured to receive, from the image capturing apparatus, drive frequency information used to set a drive frequency for the actuator, a control section configured to set the drive frequency for the actuator on the basis of the drive frequency information, and a driving section configured to drive the actuator at the drive frequency set. The present technique can be applied to, for example, a lens apparatus mounted on a single-lens reflex camera.

The secondary read element have asymmetrical off track amplitude profiles, preferably such that they each have a steep amplitude profile at the outer side and a broader cross-track amplitude profile at their inner sides. A method, apparatus, and system are provided for implementing spin-torque oscillator (STO) erasure prevention for microwave assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) hard disk drives (HDDs). A first voltage is applied to an STO element in the MAMR head at the time of write operation. A second voltage is applied to the STO element at the time of read operation, or not write operation, to prevent STO erasure otherwise resulting from remnant magnetization of STO at the time of read operation.

The embodiments disclosed generally relate to a read head sensor in a magnetic recording head. The read head sensor comprises side shields in addition to the upper and lower shields. The upper shield sensor is a multilayer structure with antiferromagnetic coupling. The side shield is a multilayer structure whereby a lower magnetic layer is separated from an upper magnetic layer. The upper magnetic layer is ferromagnetically coupled to a bottom layer of the upper shield. The bias direction of the read head sensor is antiparallel to the bottom layer of the upper shield.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes at least one read head, each read head including a magnetoresistive (MR) read element, having a lower shield layer, an underlayer positioned above the lower shield layer, an antiferromagnetic (AFM) layer positioned above the underlayer, a magnetization pinned layer positioned above the AFM layer, an insulating layer positioned above the magnetization pinned layer, and a magnetization free layer positioned above the insulating layer, magnetic side shields positioned on both sides of the MR read element in a cross-track direction, and at least one shield excitation coil configured to excite magnetization of the side shields. In another embodiment, a method for forming a read sensor includes forming a MR read element, forming magnetic side shields on both sides of the MR read element in a cross-track direction, and forming at least one shield excitation coil configured to excite magnetization of the side shields.

Embodiments described herein generally relate to a magnetic read head wherein read sensitivity distribution is made asymmetric in the off-track direction. The method of making the magnetic head is also disclosed. The read head may comprise a magneto-resistive effect element with an asymmetric structure around the element in the off-track direction and the read sensitivity profile in the off-track direction may also be asymmetric.

The present invention provides a high-efficiency absorption refrigerating machine which can recover heat from a heat source and can efficiently recover heat from an internal cycle. The absorption refrigerating machine includes an evaporator, an absorber (A), a condenser (C), a high-temperature regenerator (GH), a low-temperature regenerator (GL), a low-temperature solution heat exchanger (LX), and solution paths and refrigerant paths by which these units are connected. The absorption refrigerating machine further comprises two branch solution paths branched from a solution supply path through which a dilute solution is introduced from the absorption (A) to the high-temperature regenerator (GH). On one of the branch solution paths, there is disposed a drain heat exchanger (DX) operable to perform heat exchange between the dilute solution in the branch solution path and an exhaust heat source which has heated the high-temperature regenerator (GH). On the other of the branch solution paths, there are disposed a first high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) and a second high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) operable to perform heat exchange between the dilute solution in the branch solution path and a concentrated solution heated and concentrated in the high-temperature regenerator (GH). The absorption refrigerating machine is configured such that the dilute solution flows through the first high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) and the second high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) in this order, and the concentrated solution discharged from the high-temperature regenerator flows through the second high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) and the first high-temperature solution heat exchanger (HX) in this order.
