A door module assembly for a motor vehicle door has a plate-like carrier holding a plurality of door hardware components in a pre-configured orientation, including one or more window regulator rails. The carrier seals the motor vehicle door and includes a flap that provides at least partial access to the window regulator rails. A first trim panel is pre-fixed to the carrier. A second trim panel articulates with respect to the first trim panel between an initial position generally parallel to the first trim panel and an installed position generally in-line with the first trim panel. With the carrier storing substantially all of the hardware required for the door and the trim panels covering substantially the entire surface area of the door, handling and assembly operations are minimized.

Trim door hardware carrier and methods of assembling vehicle door

A cable window regulator () is provided which comprises a first pulley () rotatably mounted to a first pulley bracket () for rotation about a first pulley axis and a second pulley () rotatably mounted to a second pulley bracket () for rotation about a second pulley axis. The regulator further comprises a lift plate () securable to a window glass (), a cable () affixed at opposite ends thereof to the lift plate () and running over the first and second pulleys (). A window regulator drive assembly () is operably connected to the cable for causing movement of the cable and in turn moving lift plate () relative to the first and second pulleys (). The first pulley bracket (), second pulley bracket () and window regulator drive assembly () are mountable to a structure housing the window independently of any window rail.

Universal cable window regulator assembly for vehicles

A cable window regulator assembly is mounted to a carrier panel. At least four pulleys are spaced around the carrier panel, each rotating around an axis substantially perpendicular to the carrier panel. A lift plate assembly is displaced away from the carrier panel and is constrained to travel in a closure plane solely by the closure panel. An upper and a lower cable is trained around a first pair of the pulleys. One end of each of the upper and lower cables is affixed to a drive assembly; the other end of the upper and lower cables is affixed to the lift plate assembly on opposite sides near opposing edges of the lift plate assembly. Engaging the drive assembly causes the lift plate assembly to move towards either an open or a closed position. A follower cable, affixed to the lift plate assembly at opposite sides thereof and trained about a second pair of the pulleys, maintains coordinated travel of the lift plate assembly.

Railless window regulator

A cable window regulator is provided which includes a carrier panel securable to a door. First and second pulleys are rotatably mounted to the carrier panel. A lift plate is securable to a window and the window is constrained to travel along a predefined path. The lift plate is not directly attached to the carrier panel. A pair of cables is trained respectively around the first and second pulleys and is fixed to the lift plate. A drive assembly is operably coupled to the first and second cables for moving the pair of cables. The lift plate moves to and fro in response to movement of the pair of cables by the drive assembly in order to move the window relative to the carrier panel.

A carrier plate assembly () is secured to an inner pannel () of a vehicle door. The carrier plate assembly includes a main section () having a forward edge and a rearward edge (). A first flap section () is connected to the main section along the forward edge by a hinge and is detachably connected to the inner panel for movement about the hinge to provide access to the space within the door without removing the entire carrier plate assembly. A second flap section () is connected to the rearward edge () by a second hinge to provide access to the hardware components in the space within the door.

Door module for a motor vehicle with pivotally attached sections

A power liftgate drive assembly automatically moves the liftgate of a vehicle between its open and closed positions. The drive assembly is secured to the vehicle at a position near the top of the liftgate. The drive assembly includes a motor that drives a sector gear between two positions. A guide rod is secured to the sector gear to translate the rotational movement of the sector gear into the pivotal movement of the liftgate. A slot extends through the sector gear that allows the liftgate to be moved manually. A latch locks the guide rod in position with respect to the sector gear for automated movement whereas the latch releases the guide rod to move in the slot for manual operation.

Headliner mounted power liftgate drive mechanism

A vehicle door lock assembly has a latch ( ) for mounting on a vehicle door. The latch ( ) has at least one release lever for effecting releasing of the latch and at least one locking lever ( ) for locking the latch, disabling the release lever, and unlocking the latch, enabling the release lever. A compound linkage ( ) operatively engages the locking lever ( ). A lock cylinder ( ) has a spindle ( ) which engages the linkage. The spindle ( ) rotates in response to keyed rotation of a matched key being received by the lock cylinder ( ) which drives the linkage ( ) to effect movement of the locking lever ( ). The spindle ( ) is axially slidable to disengage the spindle from the linkage. A hollow shield ( ) shrouds the locking lever ( ), the linkage ( ) and the engagement between the linkage and the spindle ( ), preventing access thereto. If the spindle is removed, the linkage will pivot away preventing manipulation thereof. The hollow shield ( ) also separates the linkage ( ) from the lock cylinder opening further minimizing unauthorized manipulation of the locking lever.

Vehicle door lock with improved anti-theft features

A vehicle door module has a hardware sub-module and a trim sub-module. The hardware sub-module includes a structural carrier plate containing hardware mounting surfaces. The carrier plate has an upper body panel and a bifurcated lower body portion comprising two legs extending from the upper body panel in opposite directions. The door hardware is mounted on the mounting surfaces. A window regulator assembly is mounted on the structural carrier plate. The trim sub-module is mounted to the hardware sub-module. The trim sub-module has a trim panel, a water barrier film and a wiring harness. The water barrier film is contoured to extend about and seal a periphery of the trim panel. A portion of the wire harness is sealed to the water barrier and connectors of the wiring harness extend from the trim sub-module at predetermined locations. The carrier plate is sized to be fitted in both a long low profile door and a short high profile door while the trim sub-module is customized to fit onto one of the door styles.
