A gate apparatus configured to perform an XOR operation on received input signals to provide a logical output signal, y. The apparatus includes at least one first signal input adapted to receive a first input signal; and at least one second signal input adapted to receive a second input signal. At least one of the received input signals is split into a first split signal portion fed to a photo diode to generate an electrical photocurrent supplied to a junction node, and a second split signal portion combined with at least a signal portion of the other signal received at the second signal input to generate a combined optical output signal supplied to an electro-optical modulator to provide the logical output signal, y. The electro-optical modulator is driven by a photocurrent processing unit having an input connected to the junction node.

A configuration method of configuring a measurement instrument is described. The measurement instrument comprises at least one measurement port being connectable to at least one device under test. The measurement instrument further comprises a control circuit and a measurement circuit. The control circuit is connected to the measurement circuit. The measurement circuit is connected to the at least one measurement port. The configuration method comprises the steps of: comparing a loaded test routine with configuration data stored in the measurement instrument, determining whether the test routine is performable by the measurement instrument based on the comparison of the test routine with the configuration data; and adapting the loaded test routine based on the configuration data.

Configuration method of configuring a measurement instrument

A modulated RF signals generating system for controlling or reading-out a multiple-state system, such as a quantum computing architecture or a multiple-input multiple-output architecture, is provided. The system includes a baseband signal generator having a baseband signal generator output(s), a reference frequency source being in unidirectional or bidirectional communication with the baseband signal generator, a multitone source including multitone source output(s) and being in unidirectional or bidirectional communication with the reference frequency source to lock the corresponding phase between the baseband signal generator and the multitone source, and mixer(s) including a first mixer input, a second mixer input(s) and a mixer output. The corresponding one of the baseband signal generator output(s) is connected to the first mixer input of the respective one of the mixer(s). The corresponding one of the multitone source output(s) is connected to the second mixer input of the respective one of the mixer(s).

System and method for generating modulated RF signals for controlling or reading-out a multiple-state system

A signal synthesizer circuit includes a clock source, a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) circuit, signal paths, and an output. The clock source generates or receives a clock signal having a predefined frequency. The DDS circuit generates a DDS signal. A first signal path is connected to the DDS circuit to receive the DDS signal and includes a multiplier circuit that multiplies a frequency of the DDS signal by a multiplication factor, obtaining a frequency-multiplied DDS signal. A second signal path is connected to the clock source to receive the clock signal and includes a mixer circuit that receives the clock signal and the frequency-multiplied DDS signal. The mixer circuit mixes the clock signal with the frequency-multiplied DDS signal, obtaining a mixed DDS signal. A frequency of the mixed DDS signal corresponds to the sum of frequencies of the clock signal and the frequency-multiplied DDS signal.

Signal synthesizer circuit, signal generator device, and signal synthesis method

A control apparatus for generating a control signal for an electro-optic modulator is described. The control apparatus includes an RF signal source being configured to generate a radio frequency (RF) signal. The control apparatus further includes an amplitude adjustment circuit being configured to adjust an amplitude of the RF signal, thereby obtaining an adjusted RF signal. The control apparatus further includes a DC signal source being configured to generate a direct current (DC) signal. The control apparatus further includes a superposition circuit being configured to superimpose the adjusted RF signal and the DC signal, thereby obtaining the control signal for the electro-optic modulator. The control apparatus further includes a control circuit, wherein the control circuit is configured to receive at least one frequency parameter associated with the electro-optic modulator. The at least one frequency parameter includes a frequency multiplication factor and/or a target modulation frequency. The control circuit is configured to control the DC signal source to adapt a voltage of the DC signal based on the at least one frequency parameter received. Further, an optical signal generator apparatus and an RF-over-fiber system are described.

Control module, optical signal generator module, and RF-over-fiber system

A system for correcting phase noise and/or drift includes an optical signal module, at least one optical transport module, at least one sampling module, an analysis circuit, and a measurement instrument. The optical signal module is capable of outputting a modulated optical signal. The at least one optical signal transport module includes a beam splitter capable of separating at least backward travelling waves based on polarization. The at least one optical signal transport module further includes a partially reflecting reflector capable of creating a backward travelling wave, the partially reflecting reflector being located after the polarization rotator. The at least one sampling module is configured to receive and sample the backward travelling wave created by the partially reflecting reflector and forwarded to the at least one sampling module by the beam splitter, thereby obtaining an electric correction signal. The analysis circuit is configured to correct measurement data obtained by the measurement instrument based on the electric correction signal.

System for correcting phase noise and/or drift occurring in optical fibers

The application discloses a RF vector measurement system including: a first port for generating a RF pulse, a pulse splitter for splitting the pulse into a first pulse send to a device-under-test DUT, and a second pulse send as a reference to a first quantum sensor of the system. The system is arranged to supply a third pulse, which is produced by reflecting or transmitting the first by the DUT, to at least one second quantum sensor phase-correlated with said first quantum sensor by entanglement. A computing unit is arranged to perform a measurement of the DUT by: reading out the state of the population of the first and the second quantum sensor, wherein the state of the second quantum sensor is based on the relative phase and relative amplitude of the second pulse and the third pulse, and determining the relative phase and relative amplitude of the second pulse and the third pulse as the closest match when applying a quantum sensor model for the second quantum sensor, the model being designed to model the dependencies between the relative phase and amplitude and the resulting population state.

RF vector measurement system with one or more entangled quantum sensors

A system for correcting phase noise and/or drift, the system includes an optical signal module being capable of amplitude modulating the optical signal while being phase- and/or frequency-shifted. Further, the system includes a beam splitter capable of separating at least backward travelling waves based on polarization. Moreover, a fiber connected to the beam splitter and a polarization rotator capable of changing the polarization of the optical signal are provided. The system has a partially reflecting reflector capable of creating a backward travelling wave as well as a photodiode capable of receiving the backward travelling wave. The photodiode is capable of generating a detection signal used for detecting phase noise and/or drift in the backward travelling wave.
