A method for the production of rubber mixtures in a ram kneader or in an aggregate combination of a ram kneader and a preferably thereunder disposed ram-less kneader includes applying a fluid in a surface covering application onto the mixture which has been handled in the ram kneader at the same time as during the mixing process at which there occurs at least one of an enlargement of its working volume, during the discharge process in which the mixture is discharged from the ram kneader, and during a time at which the mixture is in the ram-less kneader, the boiling point of the fluid being less than the desired end temperature of the mixture and the fluid being evaporated during the course of further working of the mixture in a manner in which no fluid remnants remain.

Method of producing rubber mixtures

A method for making a silicic acid containing rubber base composition includes providing composition ingredients of rubber, silicic acid, silane and additional additives except for vulcanization ingredients. First and second mixers separate from each other are provided wherein the ingredients except for the vulcanization ingredients can be mixed. All of the composition ingredients are introduced into the first mixer except for the vulcanization ingredients simultaneously or at time intervals. The composition ingredients introduced into the first mixer are mixed to a composition. The composition formed in the first mixer is transferred directly into the second mixer without an intermediate storage thereof. The transferred composition formed in the first mixer is mixed at least almost to completion in the second mixer with the temperature lying in the temperature range of 130&deg; C. to 180&deg; C. at least over the greatest part of the dwell time of the composition in the second mixer wherein the silicic acid reacts acceleratedly with the silane.

Method for making a rubber base composition containing silicic acid

A mixing unit for mixing rubber has a mixing chamber and at least one rotor positioned therein. A drive, for driving the at least one rotor, is positioned exterior to the mixing chamber. The at least one rotor has a shaft penetrating outwardly from the mixing chamber and connected to the drive. An inlet opening is positioned at the top side of the mixing chamber. A first closure closes the inlet opening. An outlet opening is positioned at the bottom of the mixing chamber and can be closed by a second closure. At least one first connector is provided for affecting pressure in the mixing chamber. An air-tight enclosure for the shaft penetrating from the mixing chamber is provided. The enclosure has at least one second connector for affecting pressure in the enclosure.

Elastomer mixing unit

Crosslinkable mixtures are made of recycled rubber granules, rubber and oil. The crosslinkable mixtures are made of recycled rubber granules mixed with rubber dissolved in oil. The crosslinkable mixtures can be press molded into molded bodies having good mechanical and elastic properties, since a virtually plastic flowing provides for optional bonding of the granule particles among each other during processing.

The method for manufacturing rubber mixtures includes the steps of plasticizing batchwise rubber in a first inner kneader to produce a batch of plasticized rubber and transporting the batch of plasticized rubber, while still hot, into a second inner kneader. In the second kneader nonreactive additives are mixed into the batch of plasticized rubber.

An apparatus for receiving and transporting material mixed in internal mixers used for processing rubber mixtures. At least one mixer is provided that has a discharge opening at the bottom. A closure that is pivotable about a horizontal axis is provided for opening and closing the discharge opening. At least one receptacle is adapted to be disposed below the discharge opening of the mixer for receiving mixed material from the mixer. After a receptacle has received mixed material from the mixer, and prior to closure of the closure, a receptacle is withdrawn in a closure direction of the closure.

An apparatus for preparing rubber mixtures has a ram mixer for mixing rubber and non-reactive additives to form a rubber base mixture and a ramless mixer for finely dispersing the non-reactive additives within the rubber base mixture. The ramless mixer is positioned below the ram mixer and connected to the ram mixer such that the rubber base mixture is directly introduced into the ramless mixer for finely dispersing the non reactive additives. Accordingly, in a ram mixer a batch of rubber and non-reactive additives is mixed to form a rubber base mixture. The rubber base mixture is transferred into the ramless mixer. The ramless mixer serves to finely disperse the non-reactive additives within the rubber base mixture. The rubber mixture with the finally dispersed non-reactive additives is then conveyed to a second mixing stage. In the second mixing stage reactive additives are added and the rubber base mixture together with the reactive additives is finishing-mixed to form a finished rubber mixture.

Method for producing a base mixture of rubber

A method of manufacturing a rubber mixture includes the step of mixing at a first temperature in a batchwise operation a base mixture of rubber and non-reactive additives in a ram mixer. In a subsequent step the base mixture is removed from the ram mixer and formed to a strand. The strand is cooled to a temperature at which the strand is still warm. The warm strand is then fed to a ramless mixer and reactive additives are added. In a batchwise operation the base mixture and the reactive additives are mixed at a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature in order to form a finished rubber mixture. Preferably, cooling and feeding of the strand are performed simultaneously.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing rubber mixtures

An apparatus for producing rubber mixtures, including a ram kneader for the master batch, and disposed therebelow a ram-less kneader that operates in a batch process and to which the master batch is supplied without intermediate storage thereof. To rapidly cool the master batch in the ram-less kneader and to be able to reliably and rapidly carry out the finish mixing process, only a portion of the active surface of the rotor of the ram-less kneader is provided with a surface wear protection layer. This layer is preferably provided only in the region of the active edges of the raised portions of the rotor, while the remaining portion of the active surface is free of such a wear protection layer.

An apparatus for producing rubber mixtures. A ram kneader that operates in a batch process is provided for producing a master batch. A ram-less kneader for producing a final mixture is disposed below the ram kneader. A chute is disposed between the ram kneader and the ram-less kneader for supplying rubber mixture to the ram-less kneader via an inlet thereof. At least portions of the walls of the chute form closure members that are pivotable downwardly to at least partially close off the inlet of the ram-less kneader.

An apparatus for producing rubber mixtures, comprising: as a master batcher, a ram kneader than operates in a batch-type process; a ram-less final mixer that is disposed below the ram kneader, also operates in a batch-type process, and has a greater volume capacity than does the ram kneader, with the final mixer having a mixing chamber that is provided with rotors; an essentially vertically disposed transfer channel for the transfer of a master batch from the ram kneader to the mixing chamber of the final mixer; and one or more withdrawal or exhaust openings disposed above the mixing chamber of the final mixer in walls of at least one of the transfer channel and the mixing chamber of the final mixer.

A method for producing a rubber mixture. In a first stage, in a ram kneader, a master batch is produced, and in a second stage, in a batch-type process, a final mixture is produced in a ram-less kneader, without the need for intermediate storage. To improve the cooling in the ram-less kneader, the interior of this kneader is supplied with air that has such a degree of dryness that a condensation deposit is precluded. To achieve this, an essentially air tight channel is provided between the two kneaders, with a place being provided in the channel for the bottom closure of the ram kneader in a swung-out position of this closure.

The material that is to be mixed is transferred or conveyed from the master batcher to the final mixer via the force of gravity without intermediate storage thereof. After the master batching, the material that is to be mixed is cooled in the final mixer. During cooling and final mixing of a first charge in the final mixer, master batching or a subsequent charge is already effected in the master batcher. The master batcher and the final mixer are expediently combined in such a way that the master batcher is a ram kneader, and the final mixer is a ram-less kneader.
