A therapeutic system includes a therapy module to direct a therapeutic action, e.g. focused ultrasound or RF energy to a target. An imaging module, such as a magnetic resonance examination system, generates image information of a therapy region that includes the target. By way of a motion analysis module, a motion vector field is derived from the image information of the therapy region. A control module controls the therapy module based on the motion vector field. For example, based on t the motion vector field, an accurate temperature distribution is derived from magnetic resonance signals and the motion vector field. Also magnetic resonance elastography data may be employed to improve the accuracy of the temperature distribution.

Image guided therapy

A method for localizing a target (e.g., a tumor) in an object (e.g. human tissue) by scanning the object with an X-ray beam. The X-ray beam is translated and simultaneously rotated during the scan, the translatory and rotational movements being connected in such a way that the shadow image of the target is kept on the surface of a detector during the scan. In this way it is possible to measure the translation d of that image during the scan. From the translation in combination with the translation D and the rotation during the scan, the height of the targetabove the detector surface 10 may be calculated. In this way only one scan is needed.

Method for localizing a target in an object

An analysis apparatus including a spectroscopic analysis apparatus comprises an excitation system and a monitoring system. The excitation system emits an excitation beam to excite a target region during an excitation period. The monitoring system emits a monitoring beam to image the target region during a monitoring period. The excitation period and the monitoring period substantially overlap. Hence the target region is imaged together with the excitation, and an image is formed displaying both the target region and the excitation area. On the basis of this image, the excitation beam can be very accurately aimed at the target region.

Analysis of a composition

A magnetic resonance imaging system is provided with a system of emission antennas,: for example, emission coils, for generating RF excitation pulses. The RF excitation pulses generate magnetic resonance signals from an object to be examined. The system of emission antennas has a spatially inhomogeneous emission profile. The inhomogeneous emission profile is used for the partial spatial encoding of the magnetic resonance signals in addition to the encoding on the basis of magnetic gradient fields. The magnetic resonance image is reconstructed on the basis of the inhomogeneous emission profile
