Eyewear including a frame, a projector supported by the frame, and a lens supported by the frame. The lens has a first surface facing an eye of the user and a second surface facing away from the eye of the user when the frame is worn. The lens also includes a waveguide defined by the first and second surfaces to receive light from the projector. An input light coupler and an output light coupler are on the first surface of the lens and at least one reflector is positioned on a second surface of the lens to redirect light received from the input coupler and/or the output coupler to redirect light having an angle of incidence with respect to the second surface of the lens that would result in that portion of the light exiting the waveguide through the second surface in the absence of the at least one reflector.

An adjustable frame assembly for augmented reality eyewear. The frame assembly includes a face portion for supporting a first lens and a second lens, a support rest for supporting the face portion on a user, and at least one coupling for adjusting a position of at least one of the first lens and the second lens relative to the support rest. The frame assembly may further include at least one waveguide that creates an eye box in one of the first lens and the second lens. The at least one coupling enables movement of the eye box relative to the support rest to position the eye box in front of the wearer's eye.

Eyewear includes a frame configured to support an optical element and a temple pivotably connected to one side of the frame by a hinge. The temple is movable with respect to the frame between folded and unfolded configurations. A first permanent magnet is either disposed on or at least partially embedded within the frame at a location adjacent the hinge. A second permanent magnet (or ferromagnetic member) is either disposed on or at least partially embedded within the temple at a location adjacent the hinge. The permanent magnets are attracted to each other such that magnetic attraction retains the temple in the unfolded configuration when the temple is moved into the unfolded configuration.

An adjustable frame assembly for augmented reality eyewear. The frame assembly includes a face portion for supporting at least one waveguide that creates an eye box, a support rest for supporting the face portion on a user, and a coupling for adjusting the position of the face portion relative to the support rest. This enables movement of the waveguide eye box relative to the support rest to position the eye box in front of the wearer's eyes.

In an example, the eyewear includes an optical element, electronic components, and a support structure configured to support the optical element and the electronic components. The support structure defines a region for receiving at least a portion of a head of a user. The eyewear also includes a biometric sensor coupled to the electronic components and supported by the support structure. The biometric sensor is attached to the support structure and positioned to detect, in the region, a biometric signal representative of a biometric of the user for processing by the electronic components.

A wearable device includes a body having fasteners and a frame coupled between two fasteners. The frame includes first and second sections. A first portion of the body includes the first section of the frame and one fastener and a second portion of the body includes the second section of the frame and the other fastener. The body also includes a processor, memory accessible to the processor, and programming in the memory for configuring the processor to selectively activate the speakers and microphones such that a first speaker emits an output sound signal while a first microphone and a second speaker are deactivated and a second microphone captures an input sound signal during the emission of the output sound signal by the first speaker.

A system comprises an eyewear device that includes a frame, a temple connected to a lateral side of the frame, a fingerprint sensor, and a sensing circuit. The fingerprint sensor includes an input surface to receive input of a finger skin surface. The sensing circuit is configured to track a pattern of fingerprint ridges of the finger skin surface on the input surface. Execution of programming by a processor configures the system to perform functions to track, via the sensing circuit, the pattern of fingerprint ridges of the finger skin surface on the input surface; generate a fingerprint image having the tracked pattern of fingerprint ridges; extract fingerprint features from the fingerprint image; and authorize the user to utilize the eyewear device based on the extracted fingerprint features.

An embodiment includes eyewear having an optical element, electronic components, a support structure configured to support the optical element and the electronic components, and light emitting diodes (LEDs) coupled to the electronic components and supported by the support structure. The LEDs are positioned to illuminate the support structure according to a lighting scheme.

The use detector is coupled to the electronic components and is positioned to identify when the head of the user is within the region defined by the support structure.
