A process for removing Co, Pb, Cdand Crtoxins from bodily fluids is disclosed. The process involves contacting the bodily fluid with an ion exchange composition to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Alternatively, blood can be contacted with a dialysis solution which is then contacted with the ion exchange composition. The ion exchange compositions are represented by the following empirical formula:AZrTiSnMSiO. A composition comprising the above ion exchange compositions in combination with bodily fluids or dialysis solution is also disclosed. The ion exchange compositions may be supported by porous networks of biocompatible polymers such as carbohydrates or proteins.

Process for removing cobalt, lead, cadmium and chromium ions from bodily fluids using metallate ion exchange compositions

A process for removing Srtoxins from bodily fluids is disclosed. The process involves contacting the bodily fluid with an ion exchanger to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Process for removing strontium ions from bodily fluids using metallate ion exchange compositions

A process for removing Hgtoxins from bodily fluids is disclosed. The process involves contacting the bodily fluid with a titanium metallate ion exchanger to remove the metal toxins in the bodily fluid, including blood and gastrointestinal fluid. Alternatively, blood can be contacted with a dialysis solution which is then contacted with the ion exchanger. The titanium metallate ion exchangers are represented by the following empirical formula:ATiNbSiO. A composition is provided with the combination of the titanium metallate ion exchanger and bodily fluids or dialysis solutions. Also, provided is an apparatus comprising a matrix and the titanium metallate ion exchanger.

Process for removing mercury ions from bodily fluids using titanium metallate ion exchange compositions

A process for removing Hgions from a liquid stream is disclosed. The process involves contacting the liquid stream with specified UOP Zeolitic Materials. These molecular sieves are particularly effective in removing Hgions from aqueous streams even in the presence of Mgand Caions. The effective molecular sieves have an intermediate range of Si/Al ratios between about 2 and 20 and preferably between 3 and 10.

Use of zeolitic materials for removing mercury (+2) ions from liquid streams

A process for removing Hgions from a liquid stream is disclosed. The process involves contacting the liquid stream with specified ion-exchangers based on manganese oxides and metallomanganese oxides of the formAMMnOwhere A can be cations such as Naor Mg, Mcan be metals such as Feor Co, and the TIC, the theoretical ion exchange capacity per framework metal atom, varies from 0.08 to 0.25. These ion-exchangers are particularly effective in removing Hgions from aqueous streams even in the presence of Mgand Caions.

Manganese oxide-based and metallomanganese oxide-based ion-exchangers for removing mercury (+2) ions from liquid streams

A method for preparing a family of zeolites, examples of which have been designated UZM-5, UZM-5P and UZM-6, and are represented by the empirical formulaMCRAlESiOThe method includes forming a Charge Density Mismatch (CDM) reaction mixture comprising reactive sources of Al, Si, optionally a framework element, E, and at least one organic nitrogen containing cation template, C, in the hydroxide form. After the CDM mixture is mixed while aging, an organic cation crystallization template, R, and at least one alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, M, is added. The combined final reaction mixture is reacted with mixing to produce the zeolite, which may be used in various hydrocarbon conversion processes.

UZM-5, UZM-5P, and UZM-6 crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites and methods for preparing the same

The present invention comprises a hydrocarbon-conversion process using an improved MgMxAPSO-31 molecular sieve which demonstrates a favorable combination of conversion and selectivity in aromatics conversion. The sieve comprises at least two divalent elements with narrow specific concentration limits in the framework structure having defined crystal characteristics. The element Mx may comprise one or more of manganese, cobalt, nickel, iron and zinc.

Hydrocarbon conversion using an improved molecular sieve

The present invention comprises a hydrocarbon-conversion process using an improved MgAPSO-31 molecular sieve which demonstrates a favorable combination of conversion and selectivity in aromatics conversion. The sieve has a specific combination of crystal configuration, being limited in diameter and length, specified crystallinity as measured by an X-Ray Diffraction Index (XRDI), and a narrow range of magnesium content.

Aromatic alkylation process using UZM-5, UZM-5P and UZM-6 zeolites

A process for preparing a layered composition has been developed. The composition comprises an inner core and an outer layer comprising a molecular sieve. The process involves providing a slurry comprising inner core particles and sources of the framework elements of the molecular sieve. To this slurry there are added nutrient(s), i.e. framework element sources thereby forming crystals of the molecular sieve which agglomerate onto the inner core. The process is carried out for a time sufficient to form a layer of desired thickness.

Process for preparing a layered molecular sieve composition

A process for synthesizing a variety of molecular sieves has been developed. The process involves forming a reaction mixture comprising reactive sources of the framework elements plus at least one templating agent, reacting the mixture to at least partially crystallize the molecular sieve and provide a slurry of seed crystals and adding to it nutrients (sources) of the framework elements, e.g. aluminum and silicon in order to grow the seed crystals. The rate of addition of the nutrients is controlled such that it is substantially the same as the crystal growth rate and such that there is substantially no nucleation of new crystals. The seed crystals may be the same or different than the nutrients being added, thus allowing for a layered molecular sieve. When the crystals have reached a desired size, they are isolated by conventional techniques.

Process for preparing molecular sieves via continuous addition of nutrients

Non-zeolitic molecular sieves are prepared by contacting a body of alumina or silica-alumina (optionally containing reactive sources of phosphorus pentoxide and/or other elements desired in the non-zeolitic molecular sieve) with a liquid reaction mixture containing a reactive source of phosphorus pentoxide (and optionally reactive sources of silica and/or other elements desired in the non-zeolitic molecular sieve), and an organic templating agent, thereby causing the body to react with the liquid reaction mixture and to form crystals of the non-zeolitic molecular sieve within the body.

Process for the production of molecular sieves

A method is disclosed for preparing molecular sieves of the zeolite type, particularly A, X and Y, in massive bodies that exhibit higher crush strengths than observed for prior art massive bodies. Sized unreactive kaolin-type clay, a pore generating material, and preferably a set strength enhancing agent are mixed with water to a consistency that can be shaped into preformed bodies. In the cases of zeolites X and Y silica may be included in the mixture. These bodies are calcined, optionally aged, and digested to convert them to massive bodies containing the desired zeolite.
