The method of estimating a quality index of a gray-scale encoded three-dimensional image of a composite material part includes an obtaining step for obtaining a histogram from the image, the histogram representing for each class of a plurality of classes each including at least one gray-scale level, the number of voxels of the image having a gray-scale level belonging to the class; an extraction step for extracting a predetermined number of Gaussian functions present in the histogram; and an estimation step for estimating at least one quality index of the image from parameters characterizing the Gaussian functions extracted from the histogram.

A method of identifying and/or tracking deformation of a mechanical part made of composite material for a turbine engine, in which the part includes a preform of fiber material and a resin, is provided. Both the fiber preform of the casing as impregnated by a precursor resin for the matrix of the composite material of the casing, and also the fiber structure of the inside skin of the acoustic coating as impregnated with a precursor resin for the matrix of the composite material of the inside skin are subjected to resin polymerizing heat treatment, and the inside skin of the acoustic coating is multiply perforated so an assembly is obtained that comprises the casing with an incorporated acoustic coating.

A method and device for estimating a porosity ratio of a sample of material from at least one gray-scale coded image. The method includes: evaluating an intermediate ratio of a sample for each value of a plurality of gray-scale threshold values lying between two determined limit values, the intermediate ratio being equal to a ratio of a number of pixels of the at least one image having a gray-scale value bounded by the threshold value to a total number of pixels of the at least one image; and estimating the porosity ratio of the sample by analyzing variations in the intermediate ratio as a function of the threshold value.
