An absorbent core for absorbent articles such as diapers comprising a core wrap comprising a top side and a bottom side, an absorbent material between the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap, a first and second longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis and substantially free of absorbent material preferably through which the top side of the core wrap is preferably attached to the bottom side of the core wrap. The core has a central absorbent zone between the first and the second channel-forming areas and a first and second lateral absorbent zones disposed laterally outwardly. The basis weight of the absorbent material in the central absorbent zone is higher than the basis weight of the absorbent material in each of the lateral absorbent zones for at least a first transversal section (S). This relation is inverted along a second transversal section (S) of the core. The first and second sections have each a length in the longitudinal direction of at least 10 mm.

Absorbent core with profiled distribution of absorbent material

An absorbent article such as a diaper extending in a longitudinal direction parallel to a longitudinal axis (') and a transversal direction (′) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and comprising a distribution layer () between a topsheet () and an absorbent core (). The distribution layer comprises a fibrous material and a first and second longitudinally-extending channels () substantially free of fibrous material. The fibrous material is profiled in the transversal direction so that average basis weight between the channels differs from the average basis weight in the lateral areas outward of the channels by at least 50 g/mand/or wherein the distribution layer comprises a first region having a first basis weight (bw) and a second region having a second basis weight (bw), wherein the first basis weight and the second basis weight differ by at least 20 g/m, preferably by at least 50 g/m, and these regions are present in different areas of the distribution layer but in the same longitudinally extending transversal section. The absorbent core may comprise channel-forming areas (). The article further comprises a backsheet ().

Absorbent article with a distribution layer comprising channels

An absorbent article such as a diaper comprising an acquisition layer with one or more longitudinally-extending stretch openings is provided. The stretch openings may be obtained by slitting and stretching an acquisition layer material. The topsheet forms recesses at the wearer-facing surface of the absorbent article as it folds inside the stretch openings. The stretch openings may provide a three dimensional profile on the wearer-facing side of the absorbent article in a simple and cost effective manner.

An absorbent article having a front side, a back side, a longitudinal axis notionally extending in a longitudinal direction from the middle of the front side to the middle of the back side. The absorbent article has a length L measured along the longitudinal axis. The absorbent article comprises a liquid permeable topsheet on the wearer-facing side, a liquid impermeable backsheet on the garment-facing side, an absorbent core between the topsheet and the backsheet, and an acquisition layer comprising two or more discrete longitudinally-orientated stripes of an acquisition material between the topsheet and the absorbent core. The topsheet forms recesses at the surface of the absorbent article in the gaps between the stripes.

Absorbent articles with multi-pieces acquisition layer

An absorbent core for absorbent articles such as diapers comprising a core wrap comprising a top side and a bottom side, an absorbent material between the top side and the bottom side of the core wrap, a first and second longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas substantially free of absorbent material preferably through which the top side of the core wrap is attached to the bottom side of the core wrap disposed on opposite sides of the longitudinal axis. The core has a central absorbent zone between the first and the second channel-forming areas and a first and second lateral absorbent zones disposed laterally outwardly. The absorbent core comprises at least one transversal folding line, preferably at least two transversal folding lines, in the region where the longitudinally-extending channel-forming areas are present.
