The present invention relates to a fire resistant vacuum insulating glazing assembly including at least one vacuum insulating glazing unit, and at least one intumescent glazing unit. Also provided is the use of a vacuum insulating glazing unit in a fire resistant vacuum insulating glazing assembly to improve fire resistance.

Fire resistant vacuum insulating glazing

A vacuum insulating glazing unit comprising a planar area, first and second glass panes, k discrete spacers distributed over the planar area and positioned between the first and second glass panes, wherein k&#x2208;and k&#x3e;8, and a peripheral bonding seal hermetically sealing the distance between the first and second glass panes defining an internal volume under vacuum, enclosed between the first and second glass panes and bounded by an inner perimeter of the peripheral bonding seal defining the planar area. The inner perimeter has a substantially rectangular geometry with a length, L, a width, W, with L&#x2265;W. The discrete spacers are arranged according to the stress field lines of the combination of atmospheric pressure stresses, &#x3c3;p, applied by the atmospheric pressure on the surface of the vacuum insulating glazing, and of thermal stresses, &#x3c3;t, resulting from a temperature difference between exterior and interior environments.

High performances vacuum insulating glazing unit

A vacuum insulating glazing unit has a length equal to or greater than 800 mm and a width equal to or greater than 500 mm. The unit includes first and second float annealed glass panes having thicknesses Zand Z, respectively. The thickness Zis equal to or greater than 4 mm and equal to or greater than (&#x3bb;&#x2212;15 mm)/5. The thickness ratio Z/Zis equal to or greater than 1.10. The unit also has a set of discrete spacers positioned between the first and second glass panes and forming an array having a pitch (&#x3bb;) between 10 mm and 40 nm; a hermetically bonding seal sealing the distance between the first and second glass panes over a perimeter; and an internal volume having a vacuum pressure of less than 0.1 mbar.

Asymmetrical vacuum-insulated glazing unit

A vacuum insulating glazing unit includes a first glass pane having a thickness Z, and a second glass pane made of prestressed glass having a thickness, Z, where Zis greater than Z(Z&#x3e;Z) The glazing unit also includes a set of discrete spacers positioned between the first and second glass panes and a hermetically bonding seal sealing the distance between the first and second glass panes over a perimeter. A vacuum of pressure less than 0.1 mbar is created in an internal volume V. A thickness ratio, Z/Z, of the thickness of the first glass pane, Z, to the thickness of the second glass pane, Z, is equal to or greater than 1.30 (Z/Z&#x2265;1.30).

Asymmetrical vacuum-insulated gazing unit

A vacuum insulating glazing unit is described. The vacuum insulating glazing unit has a first glass pane and a second glass pane; a set of discrete spacers positioned between the first and second glass panes, maintaining a distance between the first and the second glass panes; a hermetically bonding seal sealing the distance between the first and second glass panes over a perimeter thereof; an internal volume defined by the first and second glass panes and the set of discrete spacers and closed by the hermetically bonding seal, where the internal volume has an absolute vacuum pressure of less than 0.1 mbar; and an absolute difference between a coefficient of thermal expansion of the first glass pane and a coefficient of thermal expansion of the second glass pane is at most 0.40*10/&#xb0; C.

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a vacuum insulated glazing wherein the glazing is assembled in a single stage by supplying glass panes, metallic spacers and corner and frame metallic seal elements which are brazed onto adhesion layers previously deposited onto the edge region areas of the glass panes.
