An extended field-of-view near-to-eye display system provides for AR/MR image viewing over about a 180° FOV. The display system may include a multiplicity of display panels per eye of a user and may include both high- and low-resolution display capabilities. The high-resolution displays may be positioned in front of the user's eyes in their primary visual field while the low-resolution displays may be positioned so as to be seen by the user's peripheral vision. The low-resolution displays provide cueing information to the user out to the limit of visual perception (for each eye), placing encoded light and movement in the periphery of the user's vision for enhanced situational awareness.

Extended field-of-view near-to-eye wearable display

A method of fabricating a multi-tone amplitude photomask includes providing a mask substrate. The method includes providing a stepped pattern in at least one layer of material on a surface of the mask substrate. The stepped pattern includes at least two steps and at least three levels. Each level of the stepped pattern provides a different intensity of light when a light source shines light on the stepped pattern.

Multi-tone amplitude photomask

A method of fabricating a holographic mask includes the steps of providing an illumination source and a non-opaque object mask. The source is for generating a coherent illumination beam directed along an axis. The object mask is capable of transmitting a portion of the illumination beam as undiffracted reference wavefronts. The object mask has one or more substantially transparent elements for creating overlapping object wavefronts when the illumination beam is incident thereon. The object mask is disposed in the illumination beam. A holographic recording medium is provided in the illumination beam in line optically with the object mask. The object mask is illuminated with the illumination beam, thereby causing the object mask to allow undiffracted reference wavefronts to pass therethrough. The illumination directed along the axis causes the one or more substantially transparent elements to create object wavefronts which interact with the undiffracted reference wavefronts to create an interference pattern.

In-line holographic mask for micromachining

A device, such as a heads up display, includes equipment for generating a virtual image in the field of view of an observer. The equipment includes at least one light source having a wavelength range less than 2 nm. The light source can be a low pressure gas discharge lamp. The device also includes a holographic optical element that provides a virtual image. The device also includes an image source, such as a mask or an LCD. In one embodiment the holographic optical element combines an image on a display with an ambient image. The holographic element provides multiple colors undistorted in a virtual image appearing to the observer as converging from the same distance.

Full color holographic image combiner system

An optically made, high-efficiency in-line holographic mask (ILHM) for in-line holographic patterning of a workpiece, and apparatus and methods for performing same. The ILHM combines the imaging function of a lens with the transmission properties of a standard amplitude mask, obviating the need for expensive projection optics. The ILHM is either a type I (non-opaque) or type II (opaque) specialized object mask having one or more substantially transparent elements which can be phase-altering, scattering, refracting and/or diffracting. A method of creating a pattern on a workpiece includes the steps of disposing an ILHM, disposing a workpiece adjacent the ILHM and illuminating the ILHM to impart a pattern to the workpiece. In another method, the ILHM is used in combination with a lens. The ILHM is disposed such that a holographic real image is formed at or near the lens object plane, and the workpiece is disposed at or near the lens image plane. Apparatus for patterning a workpiece using an ILHM are also disclosed.

Sticking or clinging of a cocktail napkin to a cocktail glass is prevented by a layer of porous siliconized paper between the base of the glass and the top surface of the napkin. This provides a water repellant barrier to accumulation of a film of water between the glass and the top surface of the napkin.
