A twist handle latch assembly is provided for use on compartment doors of a utility vehicle. The assembly includes a plastic housing with a steel backer plate to which the latch pawl is mounted. A T-handle is rotatably mounted on the front of a housing with a post extending through the housing and the steel plate for connection to the latch pawl. Rotation of the handle rotates the latch pawl between locked and unlocked positions. A power actuator may be provided to remotely lock and unlock the latch pawl. A key cylinder actuator allows manual locking and unlocking of the latch pawl. A cam connected to the actuator has a window to receive a portion of the pawl in the locked condition.

A system for providing secured access to a vehicle, a remote communications device for sending a signal for controlling a first set of functions associated with the vehicle, a receiver associated with the vehicle and adapted to receive the signal, an access module operatively connected to the vehicle and adapted to provide control of a second set of functions of the vehicle by a user from outside of the vehicle, where the first set of functions may be similar or different from the second set of functions, a plurality of actuators disposed within the vehicle and wherein at least a portion of the first set of functions or at least a portion of the second set of functions are associated with at least one of the plurality of actuators and a controller module electrically connected to the receiver, the access module, and the plurality of actuators.

The present invention is a keypad module for a vehicle. The keypad module includes a housing having a front side, a back side, and side members, the front side having a flange adapted for mounting to a vehicle, a plurality of buttons operatively connected to the housing and recessed in the front side, a circuit board disposed within the housing, an intelligent control mounted to the circuit board and electrically connected to the plurality of buttons, and a network transceiver electrically connected to the intelligent control, the intelligent control adapted to transmit a vehicle access message through the network transceiver. A control module for receiving inputs and outputs associated with providing access to and control of a vehicle is disclosed. The control module includes a housing adapted for mounting within the vehicle, an intelligent control disposed within the housing, the intelligent control having a plurality of inputs for sensing vehicle states, a plurality of electronic access inputs for receiving user instructions, and a plurality of outputs from the intelligent control for controlling vehicle functions. The intelligent control is adapted for sending and receiving messages via a multiplexing protocol. The control module can be programmed to provide customized functions for different vehicles.

The combination of a frame, a closure element, and a closure element holding assembly. The closure element is mounted to the frame for movement between first and second positions. The closure element holding assembly has a linkage with first and second connecting ends and at least first and second link elements. The first connecting end is connected to the closure element. The second connecting end is connected to the frame. The first and second link elements are joined to each other for pivoting movement about a first axis and in such a manner that the first and second link elements can be connected to and disconnected from each other by relatively repositioning at least a part of the first link element and second link element through relative movement of the at least part of the first link element and second link element in a direction generally parallel to the first axis. In one form, one of the link elements has a post and the other link element has a socket to receive the post. The post has a projection and the socket has an extension for receiving the projection. The projection and extension are selectively aligned to facilitate joining and separation of the first and second link elements and misaligned to prevent separation of the joined first and second link elements.
