Embodiments of a system with first means for forming a chamber adjacent to a component formed on a substrate and a single orifice between the chamber and a first surface of the first means that is opposite a second surface of the first means adjacent to the substrate and second means for enclosing the chamber on at least a portion of the first surface that encompasses the single orifice are disclosed.

A fluid ejection device includes a fluid chamber, a fluid restriction communicated with the fluid chamber, and a fluid channel communicated with the fluid restriction. The fluid restriction has a fluid restriction parameter defined as (2*W+2*H)*L/(H*W), wherein W is a width of the fluid restriction, H is a height of the fluid restriction, and L is a length of the fluid restriction. As such, the fluid restriction parameter is in a range of 1.5 to 5.75.

A fluid ejection device includes a fluid chamber, a fluid restriction communicated with the fluid chamber, and a fluid channel communicated with the fluid restriction, wherein a width of the fluid restriction is in a range of approximately 8 microns to approximately 16 microns, and a length of the fluid restriction is in a range of approximately 5 microns to approximately 20 microns.

A fluid ejection device comprising a substrate having a first surface, and a fluid ejector formed over the first surface. A top layer is also formed over the first surface of the substrate and defines a chamber about the fluid ejector. The top layer also defines a fluid channel that directs fluid into the chamber. In one embodiment, a barrier feature is positioned within the fluid channel, and has a height that is less than the height of the fluid channel.

A fluid controlling apparatus having a multi-layer structure that includes a top layer having a yield strength of less than about 500 megapascals, a middle layer having a yield strength of greater than about 1000 megapascals, and a bottom layer having a yield strength of less than about 500 megapascals.
