A first device captures session data for each application session that is executing on a first device, and provides the session data to a second device in order for the second device to reconstruct the application sessions. A first device identifies one or more application sessions currently executing on the first device. Each of the application sessions include a media object and session data, which includes a media object identifier that corresponds to the media object and a first device media session position. The first device captures the session data transmits the captured session data to one or more second devices. The second devices are adapted to reconstruct at least one of the application sessions using the received session data and positions the application sessions at a second device media session position that corresponds to the received first device media session position.

Seamless application session reconstruction between devices

A system for preventing redirection loops during collaborative web browsing is provided including: a CPU; a memory in communication with the CPU; instructions stored in the memory and executable by the CPU to prevent redirects encountered during a collaborative web browsing session, the instructions further comprising: instructions enabling a device to join a collaborative web browsing session; instructions enabling detection of a redirection loop based upon a query to a uniform resource locator (URL) history stored in a memory; and instructions enabling termination of the redirect loop; wherein, upon the detection of a redirection loop, the device ignores URL updates of the collaborative web browsing session for a predetermined amount of time.

Preventing redirection loops during collaborative web browsing

Embodiments provisioning various electronic devices with optical user input devices having one or more optical sensors are described. Embodiments broadly contemplate expanding the functionality of current user input devices through use of a variety of optical sensors in a variety of configurations, as described further herein.

Optical user input devices

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for detecting tampering of devices such as fiscal printers. A memory module includes a volatile memory that stores multi-bit data. An operation module allows operation of an electronic device, such as a fiscal printer, in response to determining that the predefined multi-bit data is stored in the volatile memory. A detection module detects an attempt to access the enclosed device where access to the enclosed device is restricted by an enclosure. A tamper switch module disconnects power to the volatile memory such that the predefined multi-bit data stored in the volatile memory is erased in response to the detection module detecting an attempted access to the enclosed device. A shutdown module disables operation of the electronic device in response to determining that the predefined multi-bit data is not stored in the volatile memory.

Apparatus, system, and method for detecting tampering of fiscal printers

An apparatus includes sensors configured to sense optical information, assignment circuitry configured to assign a dominant status to one of the sensors and a nondominant status to another one of the sensors and control circuitry configured to output one or more commands based on sensed optical information and status. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Sensor control

A method includes sensing a local environmental condition, receiving an electronic communication message, sensing a local microphone signal level associated with the communication message, and issuing a notification if the local microphone signal level exceeds a threshold associated with the local environmental condition. In such a method, an electronic communication may be a telephone call, a video call, a text message, a message communicated via a short message service, a message communicated via a multimedia message service or other type of message. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Manners reminder

A system for collaborative web browsing is provided comprising: a CPU; a system memory in communication with said CPU; a display medium; and instructions stored in the system memory and executable by the CPU, the instructions comprising: enabling a device to join a collaborative web browsing session; enabling a data navigation module to provide, upon an object appearing upon the display medium being selected by a user, outgoing navigation data that enables a rendering of the object to be distinguished from other objects rendered upon at least one other display medium of at least one other device.

Collaborative web navigation using document object model (DOM) based document references

An apparatus includes timing circuitry configured to initiate a timing window in response to input sensed by an optical sensor, association circuitry configured to associate the input with additional input sensed by a different optical sensor if the additional input commences during the timing window and filter circuitry configured to filter out additional input sensed by a different optical sensor if the additional input commences after expiration of the timing window and prior to a subsequent initiation of the timing window. An apparatus and method are disclosed for reloading software images. A copy module copies application metadata for an application image to an application metadata copy. The application metadata and application image are stored on a writable memory of a data processing device. The application metadata copy is stored remotely from the data processing device. A detection module detects an operational anomaly. An erasure module erases at least the application image on the writeable memory in response to detecting the operational anomaly. An identification module identifies the application image from the application metadata copy. A reload module reloads the application image to the writable memory using the application metadata copy.

Apparatus and method for reloading software images

A polygonal power pad includes an optional connector to connect to a power supply and a power network in the power pad. At least one power connector is coupled to the power network and is disposed on a periphery of the pad. The power connector is operable to receive and provide power to a provided adjacent pad. At least one power transfer coil embedded in the pad, is coupled to the power network to transfer power to a device proximate the pad.

Proximity power pad

An apparatus comprising a single memory device providing data storage, a controller for controlling data transfer to and from the data storage, and first and second bus connector plugs, wherein each plug has contacts for connecting with the power, ground, and data contacts of a port of a host system. The power and ground contacts of the first and second plugs are coupled together to provide power to the apparatus through either or both plugs. Data from either or both plugs is communicated with the controller depending upon which plugs are coupled to a port. The controller is responsible for controlling the read and write operations of the data storage. The apparatus may be any type of external memory device, such as a flash drive, or a peripheral device having a high data transfer rate, such as a digital video camera.

Peripheral device enabling enhanced communication

Apparatus for making an electrical connection in a system requiring four electrical connections, including an electrical connection pad having an array of four types of electrically conductive contacts, all conductive contacts of a given type being electrically connected to all other conductive contacts of the same type; and an arrangement for providing electrical connections to conductive contacts on the pads, the arrangement having electrically conductive pins for making contact with the conductive contacts, wherein the types of electrically conductive contacts include two contacts for power and two separate contacts for signals. The pins may be arranged at corners of a first square and a second square, with the first square being rotated by forty-five degrees with respect to the second square, and a pin located at a common center of both squares. A method of operation of the apparatus, and various applications and configurations for its use.

Communication with a multi-contact pad having a USB application

A computer implemented method and data processing system for providing a hardware controlled one-time write for fiscal printers. A signal from a fiscal printer is received at a memory controller in an electronic journal or fiscal memory card. The signal comprises transaction data and an address in a memory space in the electronic journal or fiscal memory card. The memory controller checks a marker bit corresponding to the address to determine if the marker bit is in a written state. Responsive to a determination that the marker bit is not in a written state, the memory controller sets the marker bit to the written state. The memory controller then writes the transaction data to the address in the memory space.

Hardware controlled one-time write for fiscal printers

A technique for charging a wireless device includes detecting a physical presence of a user with respect to the device. A magnetic force is provided between a charging pad and the device only when the physical presence of the user, with respect to the device, is not detected. In this case, a rechargeable power source of the device receives a charging current from the charging pad via conductive contacts of the device.
