The present disclosure provides a method of manufacturing a filter, wherein the filter comprises a filter body formed of a porous filtration material and a plastic support structure, the method including performing a first additive manufacturing step to form an initial portion of the support structure; positioning filtration material above or on the initial portion; performing a second additive manufacturing step to form a secondary portion of the support structure such that the filtration material is between the initial and secondary portions. Additionally, the filter body can be enclosed by positioning a first portion of the filtration material to overlay a second portion of the filtration material; and connecting the first portion of the filtration material to the second portion of the filtration material to define a pocket within the filter body, the support structure configured to maintain spacing between the first and second portions of the filtration material.

Method of manufacturing a fluid filter

A fuel delivery module is located inside a fuel tank and supplies fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. An in-tank suction fluid filter has a filter body made of combination material layers with porous material and filtration material. An in-tank suction fuel filter functions to filter the fuel and holds a reservoir of fuel for supplying to the fuel pump. The in-tank suction fuel filter acts as the reservoir cavity needed to have a constant supply of filtered fuel available to the fuel pump. The in-tank suction fuel filter has a freeform body that can move upward or downward with thermal expansion of the fuel while maintaining constant contact with the bottom of the fuel tank.

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for a filter for filtering a dosing fluid in an exhaust aftertreatment system. The filter may comprise a dosing tank configured to contain a dosing fluid, a filter media disposed within the dosing tank, and a support structure supporting the filter media to form a pathway for a flow of dosing fluid. Beneficially, the apparatus, system, and method of the present invention reduce the cost of operation and manufacture of the SCR system.

Apparatus, system, and method for filtration of a dosing fluid in an exhaust aftertreatment system

A suction filter providing a heat transfer pathway therein is provided. The suction filter includes a support structure, an inlet connected to the support structure, a filter element connected to the support structure, and a thermally conductive element that communicates with an interior portion of the suction filter. The filter element is configured to filter a fluid as it passes through the filter element into an interior portion of the suction filter. Also, the thermally conductive element extends from the interior portion of the suction filter to an exterior portion of the suction filter. The thermally conductive element is configured to transfer heat obtained external the suction filter to the interior portion of the suction filter in order to provide heat to the fluid in the interior portion of the suction filter.

A filtration media that incorporates a static dissipative media layer for dissipating the static charge that builds up as a fluid, such a fuel, passes through the filtration media. The filtration media includes a filter media suitable for filtering fluid, and a static dissipative media layer. The static dissipative media layer has a surface resistivity level that is sufficient to classify the media layer as static dissipative rather than conductive.
