A brake control system is for a vehicle containing an internal controller for outputting an internal control variable for at least one brake actuator. An interface receives an external control variable for the at least one brake actuator from an external controller. A decision circuit has at least two inputs for receiving the internal control variable and the external control variable and an output for outputting a control signal for the at least one brake actuator. The control signal depends on the received internal control variable and/or the received external control variable.

A method for emergency engagement of a holding brake of a vehicle having an electropneumatic brake system. The electropneumatic brake system includes a service brake system with a service brake and a holding brake system with the holding brake. The holding brake system has spring brake cylinders. The service brake system includes a service brake control unit. The electropneumatic braking system includes at least one brake circuit for the service brake and the holding brake. The service and holding brakes may be in separate brake circuits. The spring brake cylinders can be vented when a supply pressure in at least one brake circuit for the service brake decreases. The method includes reducing, via the service brake control unit, the supply pressure in at least one brake circuit for the service brake under a program control in defined conditions.

The disclosure relates to a method for testing a shuttle valve in a pneumatic system, wherein the shuttle valve has a first shuttle valve port, a second shuttle valve port and a third shuttle valve port, wherein the higher of the pressures prevailing at the first shuttle valve port and second shuttle valve port is modulated at the third shuttle valve port in each case, wherein the method includes the steps: a) modulating a first pressure at the first shuttle valve port; b) ascertaining a value, which is indicative of the first pressure, at the first shuttle valve port; and c) comparing the value indicative of the first pressure with a first predetermined comparison value provided for this, and, in the event of a deviation greater than a first tolerance: ascertaining and/or outputting a fault of the shuttle valve.

An electropneumatic valve assembly is provided for actuating a parking brake function of an electropneumatic brake system of a commercial vehicle. The assembly includes a parking brake valve unit which receives supply pressure via a supply pressure path. A pneumatically self-holding trailer valve unit is connected to the supply pressure path and has a pneumatically switchable trailer supply valve. The supply valve provides a trailer supply pressure to a trailer supply port in dependence on an electronic trailer brake signal. The parking brake valve unit has a pilot valve unit and a main valve unit and the pilot valve unit outputs a parking brake control pressure at the main valve unit. The main valve unit outputs a parking brake pressure at a spring brake port. The valve assembly has a compensation valve to maintain the parking brake control pressure outputted at the main valve unit to compensate for valve leakage.

A parking brake valve assembly for a pneumatic braking system of a vehicle includes a first parking brake valve unit and a second parking brake valve unit. The first parking brake valve unit is actuated by a first parking brake signal and is switchable from a first to a second switching position, and the second parking brake valve unit is actuated by a second parking brake signal and is switchable from a first to a second switching position. The first and second parking brake signal are mutually independent. The first and second parking brake valve unit are pneumatically connected in series between a parking brake supply connection and a parking brake working connection such that the parking brake working connection can be both ventilated and vented independently of the switching position of one of the parking brake valve assemblies by switching the other parking brake valve assembly.

An electropneumatic parking brake device is for supplying air to and exhausting air from spring-loaded accumulator brake cylinders of an electronically controllable pneumatic braking system for a vehicle and includes a parking brake valve unit with a reservoir port for receiving reservoir pressure from a parking brake reservoir. The parking brake valve unit sets a parking brake pressure at a spring-loaded accumulator port depending on a parking brake signal. A non-return valve is arranged between the parking brake valve unit and the parking brake reservoir to prevent compressed air from flowing back from the parking brake valve unit to the reservoir. A bypass valve is provided which can be switched to supply air to and exhaust it from the spring-loaded accumulator port. The bypass valve is activated and switched independently of the parking brake valve unit.

An electropneumatic device for a pneumatic braking system, including a compressed air reservoir for providing a reservoir pressure; a brake pressure modulator which receives reservoir pressure and outputs a brake pressure at a brake pressure connection in a manner dependent on electronic braking request signals; a protective valve unit with a protective valve inlet, a first protective outlet and a second protective outlet; the protective valve inlet receiving the brake pressure which it can provide at the first and second protective outlets; a first and a second pressure line; and, a brake actuator that is connected to the pressure lines. The towing vehicle has front axle brake actuators and rear axle brake actuators; a primary system with a primary control unit for controlling the front and rear axle brake actuators; a secondary system with a secondary control unit for controlling the front and rear axle brake actuators in the event that a fault is detected in the primary system and the braking system is controlled by the secondary system; a trailer control valve for providing a trailer brake pressure at a trailer brake pressure port; and a PLC connector for receiving PLC signals from a trailer. The method includes: providing PLC signals received at the PLC connection both in the primary system and in the secondary system; and processing PLC signals in both the primary system and the secondary system.

The disclosure is directed to a fail-safety valve unit for a parking brake function of an electronically controllable pneumatic braking system for a utility vehicle. The fail-safety valve unit has a monostable release valve and a ventilating valve. The release valve, when energized, provides a release pressure at a first release valve port for the parking brake function and, when de-energized, connects the first release valve port to the ventilating valve. The ventilating valve has a nonlinear ventilating characteristic which permits ventilating of the release valve port from the release pressure to a partial brake pressure with a first gradient, and ventilating of the release valve port from the partial brake pressure to a full brake pressure with a second gradient, wherein the first gradient is greater than the second gradient. Fail-safety valve unit for a parking brake function and parking brake valve arrangement

A method determines a vehicle mass of a self-driving vehicle, wherein an internal force can be exerted on the self-driving vehicle by the automated control of an electronic drive system and/or an electronic braking system. The method includes determining whether a trigger event is present indicating a change in vehicle mass is likely, and activating a learning operating mode in the presence of a trigger event wherein the self-driving vehicle is operated alternately in a first and a second phase. In the first phase, an internal force is exerted on the self-driving vehicle, and in the second phase, an internal force is exerted on the self-driving vehicle. A disturbing force acting in the phases is determined. The vehicle mass is determined depending on the vehicle acceleration and the internal force present in each phase, as well as depending on the determined disturbing force.

An electropneumatic parking brake module includes a supply connection configured to connect a compressed air supply, at least one spring-type actuator connection configured to connect at least one spring brake cylinder, and an inlet-outlet valve unit configured to assume at least a first switching position and a second switching position. The parking brake module further includes an electropneumatic pilot control unit configured to output at least a first control pressure at the inlet-outlet valve unit. In the first switching position of the inlet-outlet valve unit, the spring-type actuator connection is connected to the supply connection for outputting a spring brake pressure, and, in the second switching position of the inlet-outlet valve unit, the spring-type actuator connection is connected to a venting connection of the inlet-outlet valve unit. The inlet-outlet valve unit is in the second switching position when the first control pressure is below a first threshold value.
