A method for making a genetically modified cell having the ability to produce fucosylated compounds comprising the steps of: transforming the cell to express a fucose kinase, transforming the cell to express a fucose-1-phosphate guanylyltransferase, transforming the cell to express a fucosyltransferase.

Synthesis of fucosylated compounds

The present invention relates to nucleic acid and amino acid sequences fromserogroup O126, coding for/representing a novel alpha-1,2-fucosyltransferase. The invention also provides uses and methods for using the alpha-1,2-fucosyltransferase to generate fucosylated products, such as oligosaccharides, (glyco)proteins, or (glyco)lipids, in particular oligosaccharides found in human milk, such as 2'-fucosyllactose.

Fucosyltransferases and their applications

The present invention relates to a cell to be stably cultured in a medium, which cell is adjusted for the production of oligosaccharides, the cell being transformed to comprise at least one nucleic acid sequence coding for an enzyme involved in oligosaccharide synthesis.
