According to embodiments illustrated herein, there is provided a black toner having a resin, an optional additive, and at least two or more colored pigments, and the at least two or more colored pigments are selected from the group consisting of a blue pigment, a green pigment, a red pigment, a magenta pigment, a cyan pigment, a yellow pigment, a white pigment, and mixtures thereof, and the black toner has a colorimetric value L* of about less than 30.

Methods for making customized black toners

According to embodiments illustrated herein, there is provided a black toner having a resin, an optional additive, and at least two or more colored pigments, and the at least two or more colored pigments are selected from the group consisting of a blue pigment, a green pigment, a red pigment, a magenta pigment, a cyan pigment, a yellow pigment, a white pigment, and mixtures thereof, and the black toner has a calorimetric value L* of about less than 30.

Use of a charge control agent in a toner, such as a magenta toner, to give an increased triboelectric charge is disclosed. The magenta toner may contain a magenta resin, such as xanthene. The charge control agent is a styrene-acrylate polymer, such as the following polymer of Formula II:

Disclosed is a process for preparing an aqueous ink composition which comprises adjusting the pH of the ink with phosphorous acid or phosphite salts. Also disclosed are ink compositions prepared by this process. In certain preferred embodiments, the ink compositions can also contain betaine, sulfolane, dimethyl sulfoxide, or N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine, as well as mixtures thereof. In other preferred embodiments, the ink composition comprises an organic component selected from the group consisting of sulfolane, dimethyl sulfoxide, and mixtures thereof, and anions selected from the group consisting of phosphite, hypophosphite, phosphate, polyphosphate, sulfate, hexafluorophosphate, glycolate, acetate, ethylenediaminetetraacetate, formate, borate, sulfite, sulfamate, and mixtures thereof.

Ink compositions for ink jet printing

An ink composition which comprises an aqueous liquid vehicle, a colorant, and silica particles in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 5 percent by weight. The inks are particularly suited for ink jet printing processes, including thermal ink jet printing processes, and exhibit increased drop volume and increased drop velocity when employed in ink jet printing processes.
