It is an object to provide a device for piezoelectric sensing. According to an embodiment, a device comprises a touch surface, a plurality of piezoelectric sensors, wherein the plurality of piezoelectric sensors includes at least a first subset of piezoelectric sensors and a second subset of piezoelectric sensors, and a wakeup circuitry. The wakeup circuitry may be configured to: obtain the electrical signal from each piezoelectric sensor in the plurality of piezoelectric sensors; assign a positive sign to electrical signals obtained from the first subset of piezoelectric sensors and assign a negative sign to electrical signals obtained from the second subset of piezoelectric sensors; produce a sum signal by summing the obtained electrical signals according to the assigned signs; compare the sum signal to a preconfigured condition; and in response to the sum signal fulfilling the preconfigured condition, provide a wakeup signal.

Piezoelectric sensing device

It is an object to provide a device that may provide haptic effect. According to an embodiment, a device comprises a haptic element matrix comprising haptic effect elements, wherein the haptic effect elements are electrically arranged into rows and columns and a driving circuit. The driving circuit may be configured to, in a first phase drive an addressed column of the haptic element matrix with a first voltage; drive an addressed row of the haptic element matrix with a second voltage, leave at least one column of the haptic element matrix to a floating voltage while driving the addressed column and the addressed row; and leave at least one row of the haptic element matrix to a floating voltage while driving the addressed column and the addressed row. The device may reduce crosstalk between the haptic effect elements. A device, a method, and a computer program product is provided.

Haptic element matrix

A haptic signalizing device includes a number of piezoelectric elements arranged below a device surface such that mechanical deformations caused by the converse piezoelectric effect in the at least one piezoelectric element make the device surface to move such that the device surface follows the piezoelectric element. A driving circuit causes the converse the piezoelectric effect on the at least one piezoelectric element by generating an alternating electric field over the piezoelectric element in a bipolar fashion. The piezoelectric element is arranged i) to locally move the device surface inwards when the mechanical deformation in the piezoelectric element is a deflection directed away from the device surface, and ii) to locally move the device surface outwards when the mechanical deformation in the piezoelectric element is a deflection that is directed towards the device surface.

Haptic signalizing device

A detection of piezoelectric sensor elements is provided. According to a first aspect, a device comprises: a matrix of piezoelectric sensor elements comprising rows of the piezoelectric sensor elements and columns of the piezoelectric sensor elements; measuring circuits configured to detect at least one touch, wherein the measuring circuits are configured to the rows and to the columns; and a wake-up trigger configured to detect the at least one touch and further configured to trigger the matrix to an operation mode when the at least one touch is detected. The device is configured for detecting a press event of a plurality of piezoelectric sensor elements, using, for example only a single activity detecting and touch recognition circuit. Complexity and energy consumption may be reduced.

Detection of piezoelectric sensor elements

A piezoelectric sensor comprises a microcontroller, a plurality of piezoelectric sensor elements of which at least two are useable for producing a haptic signal by a voltage (HV) generated by a boost converter connected to each piezoelectric sensor element, and connected to a piezo channel of the microcontroller. A multiplexer individually controls each of the switches if an enable a signal is present. The microcontroller is configured to use each of the piezo channels as a sensor channel for reading sensor input from the respective piezoelectric sensor element and in response to detecting a sensor input in at least one of the piezo channels to set the enable signal at the increase voltage pin and/or the enable signal pin, and to set a signal to at least one piezo channel in which the sensor input was detected.

Embodiments of a method for controlling a charge pump and a control device for a charge pump are described. In one embodiment, a method for controlling a charge pump involves monitoring a power-on status of the charge pump, calculating a duty cycle of the charge pump within a time period based on the power-on status of the charge pump, and adjusting at least one of a clock frequency setting and a capacitance setting of the charge pump in based on the duty cycle of the charge pump. Other embodiments are also described.
