The invention relates to a method for constructing an elevator, comprising piling plurality of prefabricated modules on top of each other, such that the hoistway spaces of the prefabricated modules are vertically aligned forming a continuous vertically elongated hoistway where the elevator car and the counterweight can be fitted to move; and arranging the elevator car and the counterweight to be vertically movable in the hoistway. The plurality of prefabricated hoistway modules comprise a prefabricated top module comprising a machinery for driving a hoisting roping, and the prefabricated top module comprises one or more car guide rail sections and one or more counterweight guide rail sections, wherein the machinery for driving a hoisting roping is mounted on a support structure, which is mounted on plurality of said guide rail sections of the prefabricated top module. The invention also relates to an elevator obtained with the method.

Method for constructing elevator and such elevator

An elevator shaft element, an elevator arrangement and a method of a construction time use elevator. The elevator shaft element comprises a frame module arranged for receiving an elevator car therein. The frame module is constructed from a transport and/or storage unit, comprising side walls, a bottom wall and a roof wall. The unit is arrangeable vertically such that said side walls, bottom wall and upper wall of the unit define an inner space of the elevator shaft. The side wall, the bottom wall or the upper wall of the transport and/or storage unit is opened at a length more than a floor height of a building for providing an opening for one or more landing doors, the opening having a first side-edge and a second side-edge parallel to longitudinal direction of the transport and/or storage unit. The elevator shaft element further comprises at least one stiffening beam arranged to be fixed to the opening and extending from the first side-edge to the second side-edge.

The invention relates to a method for constructing an elevator, comprising providing an elevator car; providing plurality of prefabricated hoistway modules to be piled on top of each other, each hoistway module bordering a hoistway space into which the whole elevator car or at least an upper or lower end thereof can be fitted to move; and piling said plurality of prefabricated modules on top of each other, such that the hoistway spaces of the prefabricated modules are vertically aligned forming a continuous vertically elongated hoistway where the elevator car can be fitted to move; and arranging the elevator car to be vertically movable in the hoistway. An elevator shaft element, an elevator arrangement and a method. The elevator shaft element comprises a frame module arranged for receiving an elevator car therein. The unit is arranged to be positioned vertically such that said side walls, bottom wall and upper wall of the unit define an inner space of the elevator shaft. Elevator car guides for guiding movement of the elevator car in the elevator shaft element are attached to said bottom wall and/or roof wall.

Movable machine room, elevator arrangement and method for constructing elevator

An elevator arrangement having an elevator includes an elevator car having a floor and a roof. The elevator car is provided with one or more extension spaces which are arranged to extend the height of the elevator car during construction time use.

The invention relates to a method for constructing an elevator comprising constructing a movable machine room in the bottom end of a hoistway formed in a building under construction; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room; and constructing an elevator car in the bottom end of the hoistway below the movable machine room; and providing a counterweight in the bottom end of the hoistway below the movable machine room; connecting the elevator car and the counterweight with a suspension roping; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room to a first transport position; and thereafter mounting the movable machine room to the first transport position in the hoistway vertically supported on stationary structures; and thereafter using the elevator car for transporting passengers and/or goods below the movable machine room while the machine room is mounted in said first transport position and the elevator car and the counterweight hang suspended from the machine room by the hoisting roping; and thereafter hoisting the movable machine room upwards to a second transport position; wherein the second transport position is higher than said first transport position; and thereafter mounting the movable machine room to the second transport position in the hoistway vertically supported on stationary structures; and thereafter using the elevator car for transporting passengers and/or goods below the movable machine room while the movable machine room is mounted in said second position.

Method for constructing elevator

Stall condition in an elevator is potentially dangerous situation if it causes slack to the ropes of the elevator. In such situation a counterweight or elevator car does not move even if the hoisting machine is still operating. This situation may be prevented by stopping the elevator as early as possible after detecting such stall condition. The detection of the stall condition is based on monitoring the torque generated by the hoisting machine of the elevator. When rapid change in the torque is detected a stall condition is suspected. The elevator may be stopped or an alarm may be launched when the stall condition is suspected.
