A film layer for a mobile station that allows the appearance of the mobile station to be easily changed. The layer is thin enough to allow it to be positioned between the plungers on a plunger mat and the keys on a key mat of the mobile station. Flexibility of the film layer allows a key press to be transmitted through the film insert to one of the plungers, which in turn compresses a contact on a printed wiring board. Flexibility may be due to perforations around the keys of the key mat. Preferably, the film layer includes some visually detectable characteristic, such as a color, that is visible through openings or translucent portions of the key mat. The film layer may be constructed of various materials, such as paper, elastomer, polymer or electric luminescent materials which can be interchangeably inserted into the mobile station to change its appearance.

Film layer, assembly and method for altering the appearance of a mobile station

The invention relates to a display arrangement for establishing a flexible mounting of a liquid crystal display (LCD) module in an electronic equipment for minimize the impact on the LCD module of externally applied forces on the electronic equipment, e.g. dropping the electronic equipment. This is managed by having a gap between the LCD and the surrounding mechanics in the electronic equipment. The LCD module is positioned in relation to the surrounding mechanics by provisions of elastic and adhesive members between the LCD module and the surrounding mechanics in the electronic equipment.

Display arrangement

An electronic device is disclosed and comprises: a display (); a keypad (); a light source () associated with the display (); and a substrate () to receive the display () and the keypad () and having a wedge shaped portion formed from a light transmitting material in a region beneath the keypad () such that light emitted by the light source () is transmitted through the substrate () and is out-coupled from the substrate () via the wedge shaped portion to illuminate the keypad (). The electronic device of the invention is preferably a mobile telephone ().
