A method and apparatus for providing position profiles in mobile value added services is disclosed. Users define, manage and use position profiles with mobile value-added services and utilize the personal position profile in context sensitive value-added services. The method includes defining at least one location profile associated with a user of a mobile terminal and storing the at least one location profile remote from the mobile terminal. A system for providing location profiles includes a mapping service provider, a node in a wireless network for providing location services to a user of a mobile terminal and an interface between the server and the mapping service provider, where the user defines at least one location profile and causes the at least one location profile to be stored at the node.

Method and apparatus for providing position profiles in mobile value-added services

A system including a data network for providing Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) data to wireless terminals from a selection of content servers connected to the data network through a plurality of WAP gateways connected to the data network includes a content converter accessible as a centralized network resource. Characteristics of each wireless terminal and preferences of the user of each wireless terminal are uploaded to the central content converter and stored there. Content provided by a content server is routed through the data network to the central converter for adjustment according to the stored characteristics and preferences, and further routed through the data network to a particular wireless terminal.

Content converter portal

A system and method for controlling access to downloadable resources on a network. Content download requests are received from a network service, where the content download request includes access information. An access ticket is created based on the access information, which includes various ticket fields to store access parameters parsed from the access information. The access ticket associated with a transaction request is retrieved using a ticket identifier accompanying the transaction request. A download of desired content is authorized based on the access parameters of the retrieved access ticket. When authorized, the content is delivered to a user terminal identified by the access ticket.
