Liquid leakage detection apparatus is provided comprising: (a) a long detecting component wherein there are the following components bundled together: (i) a first conductor having a leading end and a trailing end, the first conductor covered by insulation, (ii) a second bare conductor having a leading end and a trailing end, the second conductor positioned parallel to the first conductor, the trailing end of the second conductor being connected with the trailing end of the first conductor, and (iii) a third conductor covered by a porous insulation and positioned parallel to the second conductor, (b) the leading end of the first conductor and the leading end of the second conductor being connected by the detecting means which detects and indicates a potential difference between the first and second conductors; (c) the leading ends of the first and second conductors also being connected, respectively, to one of the electrodes of a power supply, each through respective, known resistances; and (d) the third conductor being connected to the other electrode of the power supply such that a Wheatstone Bridge circuit is formed when the second conductor and third conductor are short circuited by a leaking liquid.

A solvent leak detecting sensor is provided comprising: (a) a first electrical conductor and a second electrical conductor installed on an electrically insulating substrate in the form of a detection circuit network, the conductors being exposed and separated from each other, (b) the exposed portions of the first conductor and second conductor being covered by a layer of an electrically insulating material which is both water-repellent and which is dissolvable by the solvent that is to be detected, and (c) a top layer covering the layer in 'b', this top layer being both porous and electrically conductive. The layer which is both water-repellent and which is dissolvable by the solvent that is to be detected is preferably polyvinylchloride, and the top layer is preferably conductive carbon powder.

An oil leakage detection device is provided having a detection unit comprising: (a) an oil leakage detecting sensor which exhibits a positive resistance-temperature characteristic in response to changes in temperature, connected, in series, to (b) an oil leakage detecting sensor which exhibits a negative resistance-temperature characteristic in response to changes in temperature.

Spacer-separated liquid leakage sensor

Oil floating on the surface of a body of water can be detected by the floating sensor of this invention which comprises a float having a central opening vertically therethrough and containing an electrical sensor, the lead wire connected to the sensor extending downwardly through the opening, forming a U-bend and extending upwardly through the opening to alarm means. A weight at the U-bend provides for automatic height adjustment of the detector as the surface of the body of water raises or lowers.
