A communication device having an automatic answering telephone function which can record a message spoken by a sender in a record/reproduction part when there is an incoming signal in an automatic answering mode and also which can interlacedly reproduce only head parts of messages when the received message is to be reproduced. The communication device, which further has a speech processing part for changing a speech rate while keeping a speech pitch constant, can reproduce a recorded message at a speech rate designated by a user and can transmit a rate-changed speech message.

The speed of an input speech is changed without any change of the pitch of the input speech. Raw data of a speech are stored so that the speed of the speech can be modulated continuously on the basis of the raw data of the speech. In the speech speed conversion method, a speech speed conversion process for the input speech is carried out in a period designated when speech speed conversion is needed, which the speech speed conversion is not carried out in the other period. Further, in the speech speed conversion apparatus having a unit for inputting a speech, a speech speed conversion unit for changing the speed of the input speech, and a unit for supplying the output of the speech speed conversion unit as an output speech to listener's ears, the apparatus further includes a speech speed conversion switch, and a unit for outputting a speech while changing the speech speed of the input speech in a period in which the speech speed conversion switch is turned on, but for outputting a speech without any change of the input speech in the other period in which the speech speed conversion switch is turned off.

Audio signal storing apparatus having a function for converting speech

A rotary magnetic head apparatus comprises a transformer core, including a rotor core and a stator core, a rotary drum, a stationary drum, and magnetic heads provided in the outer peripheral portion of the rotary drum. Signal transmission coils are disposed in a plurality of grooves formed concentrically in a surface of the core to transmit signals to and from the magnetic heads. Windings of each of the coils are positioned and lined with a flexible insulating layer so as to keep their mutual positional relation unchanged. The insulating layer is removed from the coil at portions corresponding to starting and terminating ends of the winding thereof. The insulating layer is bonded to the bottoms of the grooves. Through holes are formed in the core at positions corresponding to the starting and terminating end portions of the windings of the coil. Conductive junction members extend in the through holes and are electrically connected to the starting and terminating end portions of the windings of the coils to transmit signals to and from the magnetic heads.

A pair of througholes, through which the starting extremity and the ending extremity of each of a plurality of coil conductors disposed on the rotor core and the stator core constituting the rotary transformer are led to the respective rear surfaces, are linked by a linking slit. Alternatively one throughhole, through which both the starting extremity and the ending extremity of each of the coil conductors are led, is divided into two throughholes by disposing therein a non-magnetic partitioning member having a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of the magnetic body within a region of 15%. In this way, the two throughholes behave magnetically as if the starting extremity and the ending extremity of each of coil conductors passed through one throughhole, so that magnetic field components produced at the starting portion and the ending portion cancel each other and that the coupling coefficient between the rotor core and the stator core is increased.

The magnetic tape is forwarded while being wrapped on the rotating body over a region extending at least a multiple of the predetermined interval. Recording/reproducing circuits record and reproduce the video signal and the audio signal while switching over the video signal and the audio signal recording/reproducing magnetic heads in a predetermined order for every predetermined period. An erase signal is supplied to at least one of the audio signal recording/reproducing magnetic heads, which is disposed preceding to the video signal recording/reproducing magnetic head, which records the video signal on a magnetic tape track, during a period of time where no audio signal is supplied thereto.

A hydrodynamic grooved bearing device in which a shaft is inserted into a hole formed in a bearing housing and one of the shaft and bearing housing is rotated, thereby the rotated member being supported includes a plurality of grooves formed on the shaft or an inner peripheral surface of the bearing housing for generating a dynamic pressure of fluid filled between the shaft and the bearing housing. The plurality of grooves are arranged side by side with a substantially certain pitch in a direction of rotation. Each of the grooves comprises a pair of groove portions slanted relative to the direction of rotation such that a distance between the pair of groove portions becomes narrower towards the direction of rotation and a connecting groove portion connecting the narrowest distance between the slanted groove portions. The connecting groove portion is extended in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of rotation. The provision of the dynamic pressure generating grooves enables a high bearing load and a stable bearing performance with a minimum degree of whirling compared with conventional V-grooved bearing.

A rotary magnetic head cylinder device for use in a helical-scanning system video tape recorder has a projection provided on a tape running race of a stationary lower cylinder near a location at which a magnetic tape leaves from the lower cylinder. The projection is preferably integral with the tape running race and has a small area which is defined by a shoulder circumferentially extending identically with a tape guide shoulder contouring the lower edge of the tape running race and which spreads perpendicularly to the tape running race, and an upper surface coplanar with the top face of the lower cylinder, and a height defined by a protruded length radially outwardly toward the outer circumferential surface of the lower cylinder. The projection serves to reduce vibrations of the magnetic tape generated when the video head carried by the rotary upper cylinder leaves from the magnetic tape.

In a magnetic head employing a metallic ferromagnetic material for portions defining a transducing gap, an oxide film or carbide film and a nonmagnetic metal film are provided in this order on each of track width narrowing grooves, and glass is packed on the nonmagnetic metal film, thereby preventing the deteriorations of magnetic characteristics ascribable to the reaction between the metallic ferromagnetic material and the glass and the production of bubbles ascribable to the reaction between the protective films and the glass, and to achieve the enhancements of recording and reproducing characteristics, the prevention of damages to a recording medium surface, the increase of a head lifetime and the rise of the available percentage of manufacture of the heads. When a glass film is further provided on the nonmagnetic metal film and the glass is packed thereon, more excellent effects are achieved.

A magnetic head has a layer of amorphous magnetic alloy arranged to define a magnetic gap therebetween, the layer being bonded with a bonding glass having a viscosity of 10.sup.5 poises or less at a temperature by at least 50.degree. C. lower than the crystallization temperature of the amorphous magnetic alloy, a good water resistance after sintering and a low coefficient of thermal expansion such as 100.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree.C. or less. The bonding glass contains 55 to 70% by weight of V.sub.2 O.sub.5, 17 to 25% by weight of P.sub.2 O.sub.5, 3 to 20% by weight of Sb.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0 to 20% by weight of PbO, 0 to 15% by weight of Tl.sub.2 O, and 0 to 5% by weight of Nb.sub.2 O.sub.5.

A composite type magnetic head wherein a functional gap is formed by a pair of opposing magnetic metal substance members coupled to a substrate of a nonmagnetic substance and include a head front surface facing a magnetic recording medium. A coil portion is provided rearwardly of the head front surface and includes a coil window provided between the pair of magnetic metal substance members and a coil for encircling both the nonmagnetic substance substrate and at least one of the magnetic metal substance members coupled to the substrate. A rear core portion is provided rearwardly of the coil portion and is magnetically coupled with the magnetic metal substance members, the rear core portion including at least a part made of a high permeability ferrite.

The invention discloses a magnetic recording and reproducing system using a composite magnetic head whose surface facing a magnetic recording medium is composed primarily of a ferromagnetic metal and a high permeability ferrite single crystal, and which has a region close to a gap and composed of the ferromagnetic metal, wherein the composite magnetic head is arranged in such a fashion that the {110} plane of the high permeability ferrite single crystal is made to substantially coincide with a plane forming a principal magnetic circuit of the composite magnetic head, that the &lt;100&gt; direction lying inside the {110} plane is inclined at an angle of from 15.degree. to 75.degree. with respect to a direction perpendicular to the surface facing the magnetic recording medium, and that the magnetic recording medium travels in a direction which is relatively the same as, and parallel to, a vector formed by projecting a vector extending from the inside to the outside of the surface facing the magnetic recording medium in the &lt;100&gt; direction, on the surface facing the magnetic recording medium. This magnetic recording and reproducing system can remarkably reduce the step occurring on the surface facing the magnetic recording medium due to wear caused by the travel of the recording medium, and can reduce any output deterioration and fluctuation resulting from the step.

A basically cross-shaped semiconductor Hall element comprises a pair of current-supplying electrodes as well as a pair of Hall electrodes. The structure includes trapezoidal semiconductor regions extending from the central magneto-sensitive region in both the current-supplying electrode directions to thereby suppress the element temperature rise due to Joule heating. In addition, the contiguous slant edges of the extended trapezoidal portion form an angle .theta. greater than 90.degree. with lateral edges of the central rectangular magneto-sensitive region to thereby suppress the semiconductor noise dependent on the shape itself.
