The present invention provides an inexpensive separator having excellent heat resistance and causing no contraction even in a high temperature circumstance nor short circuit while maintaining a high porosity. This separator is characterized in that the flat surfaces of scaly particles are oriented in the extending direction of the surface of the separator, the scaly particles being arranged in layers in the thickness direction of the separator, and fibrous materials are interposed among the scaly particles.

The present invention provides a light-emitting body in which fine phosphor particles are dispersed in an oxide matrix, with the fine phosphor particles containing at least one selected from oxides and oxysulfides as a parent material. When this light-emitting body is dispersed in a resin, a resin composition having excellent transparency can be obtained. This light-emitting body can be produced by: preparing a gel through a sol-gel process in which a raw material solution containing a compound that supplies metal atoms composing the fine phosphor particles is used; and heating the gel at 400&#xb0; C. or higher, for example. Preferably, the light-emitting body has a shape of a flake or fiber.

A luminescent-film-coated product includes a substrate, a first layer of a transparent resin matrix containing a phosphorescent material and/or a fluorescent material, and a second layer of a transparent resin matrix containing a shiny pigment made of glass flakes coated with a high-refractive-index metal oxide. Another luminescent-film-coated product includes a substrate and a layer of a transparent resin matrix containing a phosphorescent material and/or a fluorescent material and a shiny pigment. Another luminescent-film-coated product includes a substrate, a first layer of a transparent resin matrix containing a shiny pigment made of glass flakes coated with silver, gold, nickel, or a high-refractive-index metal oxide, and a second layer of a transparent resin matrix containing a phosphorescent material and/or a fluorescent material, in which the shiny pigment has a maximum visible light reflectance of 30% or more. A product coated with a luminescent film, for example, warning/safety signs, position signs, and ornaments having good visibility and design can be provide by suitably combining a phosphorescent or fluorescent material and a shiny pigment.

A method for forming a silicon dioxide film according to the present invention comprises steps of: (i) contacting a substrate with processing solution containing silicofluoric acid solution supersaturated with silicon dioxide, and (ii) forming the silicon dioxide film on the substrate; wherein organic colorant(s) is/are introduced into the silicon dioxide film by adding organic colorant(s) to the processing solution. According to the present invention, a silicon dioxide film containing organic colorant without defect such as air bubbles, or undecomposed raw material.
