This invention is concerned with a method for producing water-insoluble polysaccharides. A method for making the water-insoluble bio-compatible gel includes activating the hydroxyl-containing polysaccharides with the activating agent to form activated polysaccharides, and cross-linking the activated polysaccharides, under moderate conditions producing different shapes of the water-insoluble bio-compatible gel. The water-insoluble bio-compatible gels, films, porosities, powders, sheets, fibers and spheres of this invention may be applied to various medical and cosmetic uses.

Method for producing water-insoluble polysaccharides

The present invention provides a process for producing porous polymer materials. In the present invention, a polymer material and a soluble material are mixed in their solid states. The surface of the polymer material is partially dissolved and fused by introducing a solvent. The present invention makes use of a pressure difference while introducing a non-solvent into the polymer material to solidify and resolve the solved polymer material. Then, a substantial amount of water is used to wash the inside soluble material out. Therefore, the porous polymer materials with high porosity and interconnecting pores inside the materials are produced massively and rapidly.

A method of shaping a catheter tip and an apparatus for shaping a catheter tip are disclosed. A hollow tube is radically preheated, which is non-contact thermoforming. The heated tube is then extent outwards and next cooled. After cut, at least two catheters with taper-shaped tip are formed. A pultrusion processing method for long fiber-reinforced nylon which combines the nylon anionic ring-opening polymerization technology and the pultrusion processing method to manufacture long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic nylon composites. The method comprises the steps of forming an active caprolactam sodium salt catalyst composition by reacting melt nylon 6 monomer raw material, i.e., caprolactum, with sodium hydride, forming co-catalyst composition by melting caprolactam and a polymeric co-catalyst, then mixing the active caprolactum sodium salt catalyst composition and the co-catalyst composition in a continuous mixing device to obtain a reaction mixture with low viscosity. The mixture is then charged into a closed impregnating tank to impregnate preheated and dried reinforced fiber, which is immediately pulled into a hot mold for composite molding processing to form a finished product of long fiber-reinforced nylon composites.

Production of a lightweight, flame retardant, sound absorption composition in the form of a phenol-aldehyde/polyurethane hybrid polymer foam of open cell structure and interconnected continuous porous architecture, by reacting 100 parts by weight phenolic resin, such as a resole resin of an aldehyde and a phenol, e.g. formaldehyde and phenol, having an aldehyde to phenol mole ratio greater than about 1:1; about 50-300 parts by weight aromatic or aliphatic polyisocyanate; about 0-100 parts by weight aliphatic group containing polyol, e.g. a polyether, polyester, polycaprolactone or polybutadiene polyol; and about 0-100 parts by weight filler; in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. a basic and/or metal salt catalyst in an amount of about 0.01-2 parts by weight, and a blowing agent, especially with all reactants but the polyisocyanate being premixed and then combined with the polyisocyanate for reaction in an open mold, e.g. with the resole resin having a pH of about 4.5-9.5, a solid content of about 50-98%, and a viscosity of not greater than about 100,000 cps at 25.degree. C., and optionally with a surfactant being included in the premixed reactants.
