A method of updating navigational map data with missed attributes via polyline geometry matching includes obtaining first and second navigational map data sets. Chains are built of original road elements of the first navigational map data and chains are built of original road elements of the second navigational map data set. A spatial index of the chains is created. A set of chain candidates that are within a predetermined distance of each other is created according to the spatial index. The size of the set of chain candidates is reduced utilizing an angle filter. Each remaining chain candidate of the reduced set of chain candidates is ranked and the chain candidate having a best ranking is selected as the best candidate chain. The first navigational map data set is updated utilizing attributes from the best candidate chain.

Updating missing attributes in navigational map data via polyline geometry matching

A method of providing vehicular navigation information includes providing a head unit embedded in a vehicle and configuring the head unit as a client device running an HTML-5 based navigation app. A smart phone is configured as a server device and linked to the head unit utilizing wireless local area network technologies. The wireless local area network technology may be Bluetooth. The smart phone transmits to the head unit via the wireless local area network technologies as needed a navigational map tile in vector format, a calculated route, and a proper subset of navigational raw voice guidance data stored on the smart phone. The HTML-5 based navigation app renders the navigational map tile and the calculated route geometry on a display of the head unit and the head unit plays at least a portion of the proper subset of the navigational raw voice guidance data through a speaker.

A method of responding to incoming calls while driving includes establishing a connection between an electronic device and a mobile phone to enable the electronic device to receive calls through the mobile phone. The electronic device receives position signals, calculates a speed at which the electronic device is moving, and thereby calculates a driving speed. The electronic device determines whether the driving speed is greater than a speed threshold when the mobile phone has an incoming call.
