Embodiments provide a method and apparatus for performing time division duplex communication, such as may be performed over a wireless communications network. In the embodiments a first circuit pathway is used to transmit a first radio frequency signal in a transmission mode and a second circuit pathway is used to receive a second radio frequency signal in a reception mode. In the reception mode, the first radio frequency signal is switched to an alternate circuit pathway. This may be performed by a radio frequency integrated circuit or by other control circuitry. Switching to an alternate circuit pathway reduces leakage of the first radio frequency signal into the second radio frequency signal.

Method and apparatus for time division duplex communication

A reconfigurable radio frequency circuit is arranged for receiving at least one carrier in a wireless communications terminal arranged to receive at least two carriers, each of the two carriers being transmitted in a different one of a plurality of operating frequency bands, and each of the plurality of operating frequency bands occupying a part of a first or a second frequency range. The circuit includes a combiner for connecting the output of a first receiver filter at a first operating frequency band within the first frequency range to the input of an amplifier and for connecting the output of a second receiver filter at a second operating frequency band within the second frequency range to the input of the amplifier. The amplifier has a selectable operating frequency range, the operating frequency range being selectable at least between the first frequency range and the second frequency range.

Reconfigurable radio frequency circuits and methods of receiving

A radio system comprises a transmitter, an intermediate station, and a receiver for data transfer from the transmitter to the receiver. The intermediate station receives at least one data packet addressed to the receiver from the transmitter, transmits each data packet to the receiver, and performs signaling of the receiver to the transmitter in conjunction with the data transfer.

Method and apparatus for data transfer with signaling

A mechanism for providing tuning values to an RF radio module that, does not have memory for storing tuning values. Tuning values are requested from a server maintaining tuning values. The request is made by a device including the RF radio module for which the tuning values are requested. Requested tuning values are then received in accordance with the request. The received tuning values are stored in to a memory of the device including the RF radio module and applied to the RF radio module.

Method for arranging tuning parameters to an RF radio module

There are first and second antennas proximally disposed and configured to resonate within respective first and second frequency bands, which may overlap. An impedance stabilization circuitry is coupled to ground. There is a selective coupler (for example, diplexer, directional coupler, switch) interfacing the second antenna selectively with the impedance stabilization circuitry and with radio circuitry. The selective coupler comprises a first port coupled to the second antenna, a second port coupled to the impedance stabilization circuitry, and a third port configured to couple with radio circuitry that is configured to operate in the second frequency band. The selective coupler provides a predetermined impedance to signals within the first frequency band and a low insertion loss to signals within the second frequency band, thus providing a stable impedance for the first antenna's view of the second antenna.

Antenna impedance stabilization with stabilization load in second antenna circuitry

A receiveroperates in close proximity to at least one other componentcausing interferences in signals received by the receiver. It is determined (steps) whether and at which frequency a higher harmonic of and/or an inter-modulation product with signals generated by the other componentcauses interference in signals received by the receiver, based on information about signals generated by the other component. At least one characteristic of the receiveris adjusted to diminish an influence by a determined interference.

Controlling a receiver

A reconfigurable radio frequency circuit is configurable to a first mode when first and second radio frequency signals are within a first frequency band, and to a second mode for use when the first but not the second signal is in the first band. A first signal divider operating in the first band provides a first signal division ratio in the first mode and a second ratio in the second mode. In the first mode, a first output of the signal divider is connected by a first switch to a first receiver and the second output is connected by a second switch to a second receiver. In the second mode, the first output is connected by the first switch to the first receiver and a second divider operating in a second band is connected by the second switch to the second receiver.

An apparatus controlling multiple radio processes for simultaneous operation At least one of the radio processes uses a substantially continuous transmitter. A controller is configured to determine an interference level and change parameters in the transmitter in order to reduce the interference level. Parameters controlled by the controller include the transmission frequency, modulation method, signal level and a received signal quality.

Control of radio process

An apparatus includes a tunable diplexer; first, second and third radio nodes; and path selection circuitry. The tunable diplexer includes a dedicated port, at least a first signal port and a second signal port, and control inputs configured to change at least one of frequency characteristics and phase characteristics of the tunable diplexer. The path selection circuitry is configurable to select between a first signal pathway between the third radio node and the first signal port and a second signal pathway between the third radio node and the second signal port. The tunable diplexer may have control signals inputs to select between the first and second signal pathways based on an expected interference scenario between radio signals at the first and second signal ports, and the control signals may change frequency characteristics and/or phase characteristics of at least one of the signal ports based on an operational condition of the apparatus.

Apparatus method and computer program for radio-frequency path selection and tuning

The transmitter receives information on a computing architecture of a receiver. A controller in the transmitter forms and transmits receiver-specific instructions based on data to be delivered and the information on the computing architecture. The controller in the receiver controls processing of the data on the basis of the instructions.

Data transmission

Described is a filtering arrangement in which a first filter is configured to exhibit a first frequency response FR and has a first node and a second node; a second filter is configured to exhibit a second FR and has a first node and a second node; and a third filter is configured to exhibit a third FR and has a first node and a second node. A first common node interfaces the second node of the first filter with the second node of the second filter; and a second common node interfaces the first node of the second filter with the first node of the third filter. The second FR exhibited by the second filter isolates a first signal on a first signal path between the first node of the first filter and the first common node from a second signal on a second signal path between the second common node and the second node of the third filter.

Output selection of multi-output filter

A radio use case is determined for concurrently operating radios of a multi-radio device and/or transmitter and receiver of a FDD radio. A local memory is accessed with the determined use case to find a high and/or a low frequency cutoff for the concurrent operation radio or transmitter/receiver. Control signals are applied to impose the high and/or the low frequency cutoff to a pair of frequency adjustable diplexers that are in series with one another in one of a transmit branch or a receive branch of a duplexer circuit that is disposed between the radio and an antenna. Then, a receive signal is passed through the antenna and the receive branch of the duplexer circuit to the radio or receiver of the FDD radio, or a transmit signal is passed from the respective radio or transmitter of the FDD radio through the transmit branch of the duplexer circuit to the antenna.

Apparatus method and computer program for configurable radio-frequency front end filtering

A mobile station is disclosed that includes a first antenna, at least one second antenna, and a receiver coupled to the first antenna. The receiver includes first control logic configured to generate a notification of the receiver being able to receive a reception frequency band and includes a transmitter coupled to the at least one second antenna and the receiver. The transmitter communicates radio frequency (RF) signals in a transmission frequency band over an RF transmit path to the at least one second antenna. The transmitter includes a tunable filter coupleable to the RF transmit path, and second control logic configured to adjust at least one characteristic of the tunable filter based at least in part on the notification. The adjustment is performed to reduce, when the tunable filter is coupled to the RF transmit path, interference caused by transmission in the transmission frequency band with reception in the reception frequency band.

Interoperability improvement between receivers and transmitters in a mobile station

Techniques are disclosed for improving the interoperability of transmitters and receivers in a mobile station. Certain exemplary techniques involve performing filtering in a transmitter in response to a notification that a receiver is able to receive a reception frequency band. Other exemplary techniques involve changing one or more inputs of one or more devices in a receiver in response to a transmission by a transmitter. Still other exemplary techniques are disclosed.
